bought the vmax in our shop.
black 1990 model with aftermarket cissybar and rack.
it even has those idiotic narrow bars fitted.

but i do have a few concerns
1--- i have read that it is capable of exceeding the national speed limit, and very quickly too.
this concerns me as i believe the human body flies apart over 80mph

2---it relishes the idea of consuming vast quanities of fossil fuel, would'nt that make it eco unfriendly

3--perhaps i should have gone for the ipullansuckyourcocky 50cc step through, now those are sensible

Welcome to the world of the big grin and the empty pocket. Vmax chat (http://www.vmaxchat.co.uk) Dont tell em I sent ya they will never talk to you again. ;)

1st mods bin the bars for renthals, and a 17" rear wheel off of a Diversion .

Then Bin standard front end for 93 on version 43mm forks abd R1 calipers.

Then frame bars to stop the flex .

Ohh the joy :D :D :D

shaggy. are you saying i shouldn't have bought the whole bike, just the engine :D

Nah just giving a few pointers, furbar fix mentioned on that other site i mentioned costs fuck all , and renthals a good place to start , Run the rear tyre harder than standard and that will help with the flex . R1 calipers will fit with brackets which im sure your capable of making , but you need later max R1 or XJR or fazer floating discs, amazing difference there and the discs bolt straight on.

Could've been worse you could have bought a Harley and had to sling everything bar the casings away .

I can and know plenty more who will dissagree with that statement , but we been there before, what it comes down too is wether you have the balls to hang on , or the nounce to sort it out . Dont know what you mean NIK i certainly never rode the rear brake , but each to their own, Gwynn you'll love it.

Dragging the rear brake through corners loads up the suspension and helps keep the bouncy back end under control. I used to do it all the time and happily scraped the **** out of my footrests and the undersides of me exhausts.

I loved my 'Max. :)

Ahh but Nik your a lil bloke , Believe me I load up the suspension without help like that, I too scraped well, not so much now its triked, But loved It as a bike . Wouldnt have changed it but for my reasons which are just that .

Remember this was a Vmax thread that someone tried to turn into a anti max thread by using H-D of all things, ergo re opening a old debate. Yes Harleys with a lot of work can fly , and can even be at somepoint reliable, there are some nice HD's about I remember Bassmans shovel and Taff's Bike is very well sorted, including proper Brakes. But slate the Max which I love, I will come to its defence. Yes they have well documented threads which list their faults rember this is a 25 year old model which yamahaha in their enlightened wisdom has done fuck all to improve over that time. But name one other Bike which has such a cult following , not a brand but a particular model, I may be wrong but I dont theink Messrs HD could produce one. Do you ? ;) :D

BLOODY HELL

for the record, if i had wanted a harley i would have bought one.

i work on bikes all day long. and have to look hard at most of them to assertain what model i'm looking at.
to a certain extent the same applies to harleys

but theres no way you could ever mistake a vmax for anything else.
it's not a pretty bike.

i love my black roof boxer helmet, and it just wouldn't look right perched on any other bike.
