The Christian PC brigade seem to forget that Santa is the Pagan Green Man, heralding in the forthcoming spring. The gifts he brings are the new seasons of flowers and fruits, not £30,000's worth of toys to each kid.....

We're pagans but I'd still like £33,000 worth of toys (bikes, trikes, new car - all acceptable) please :D

Christians know Feck all! They think there delusions are OK but someone who believes they are being followed by MI5 or think they are God need sectioning! Personaly I`d section the lot of em! Definition of a delusion....A belief or set of attitudes not founded in reality! come to think of it... the bloody muslims can follow them! now theres a thought! If our anti psychotic medication is supposed to work on psychotic ideation would giving Olanzapine or Rispiridal do anything for devout catholics or Muslims? maybe its time we tried giving out Olanzapine to third world countries instead of Durex! then we might have fewer suicide bombers! :o

Erm......If its an adaptive beliefe in the sense that it helps you and harms no one else i would say thats OK! :) if it`s a beliefe that the horned gods are telling you to wrap PE4 around yer self and walk into a shopping center and press the detonator to blow yerself to mince along with all the "non believers" around you I`d say that was a psychotic delusion! Seeing as most Pagens follow the "code" (an ye harm none) I dont ave a problem with pagens! Fundimentalist Muslims and Christians on the other hand.....worry me! :o

Got to be only one god because a group of gods would not have let the world get into this state. "no they made a balls of that lets kill em all". " no give them one last chance then kill em all"."no lets put them all on a new planet and see how long it takes them to f££k that one up".

As Richard feynmen once said..."God resisdes in the spaces between fundimental particles"! On that thought, I would presume that anyone who wishes to aportian human values and traits to such an entity is presuming a concordant view with the idea that a protazoa has the capacity to understand the workings of an internal combustion engine! :o i`ll get my white coat! :o

Sorry but what the f*ck has that got to do with xmas grottos. personally i'm an atheist but i believe that if people believe in god then they must accept that he has an alter ego called satan (or whatever),and that people have the right to worship him as well.in the same way other religions have their own gods (not quite sure where the strapping of high explosives to your body comes into it though)and there are good and bad in every walk of life.
we need to remember we evolved from monkeys, all of us.no exceptions.(no doubt we will get replies from the"we are bikers so we must get stoned and convince everybody that we came from an alien planet brigade") but who ever heard of them having a national holiday to celebrate the coming of an interplanetary craft.

Erm....sorry but I dont know why a belief in "God" neccetitates an alternative belief in Satan? Unless you are refaring to a belief in the "Judao Christian" version of GOD! In that case we are in compleat agreement! :o

If we all evolved from Rogue Monkeys, I'm contacting the CSA cos he owes me fucking thousands. :D
When I was a kid I always thought that Satan was an invention of the church to scare people into attending mass etc.

Well I'm a christian and it works for me but never subscribed to the idea that it gives me any right to think I'm better than anyone else...
Or worse, come to that!

I think it's a smashing idea.
The sad thing is about most people of a religious pursuasion - they are so precious of their own virtuosity that they have a total lack of a sense of humour.
Also, if it's scary and a bit nasty (as many dungeon-type displays are...) then how could it be said to 'promote' devil worship? Ye gods. They are probably the same misguided people that want to ban Harry Potter...

Unfortunately it is not just the world getting shallower, so is the gene pool. I despise all fudementalists, from George Bush to Osama Bin Laden. The rest are generally OK as long as they don't force their views on me or expect me to worship under duress. I don't believe in a God, so much sh*t has happened in my life I would hate to think that some psychotic tosspot of a God had a hand in it and then expect me to LOVE him, thanks, but no thanks. Most organised religions, including pagan and 'old' religions are a form of social control. They distribute power to a priest, pope or whatever, backed by the nobility to keep the great unwashed in line. This is why black slaves were introduced to Christianity as it kept them docile while they awaited their time to enter Heaven.
If I had to join a religion I would choose to be a Rasta.........

Mmmm - Satan's Grotto... Shouldn't it be filled with all the evils of Christian society? Drugs, hard liquor, wanton women, gambling....
Tickets please!!
The Xmas thing is funny - I love seeing the priests on TV wringing their hands whining about 'Remember, it's Jesus birthday'. No it's fuckin not - it's a festival to celebrate that the world isn't coming to an end - 25th December is the first day that it's noticable that the daylight hours are getting longer again. Doesn't it seem a tad strange to the Christians that other people celebrate at the same time of the year?
Yes, Santa is Red and White because of Coca~Cola. Before that he was blue/white or green/white or way back - dressed in black. He was originally dressed in black because he was sneaking around at night depositing gifts.
Santa Claus is (and this is great) the bastard child of the Christian church.
http://www.stnicholascenter.org/Brix?pageID=35 so if the whole commericialism issue is hated by the Christians, well, it's their own fault!

Saint Nick is the patron saint of thieves, mind you they probably stole that idea from his dark clothing. Christmas falls on the winter solstice/yule and other pagan festivals, because that was the Christian way. If you can't stop the celebrations, change the reason and slowly dilute the pagan meaning out of it. Easter is the other great example. The start of spring and most western societies fertility rites occour at this time.
New years day used to be Boxing Day as it would be a new year since the birth of Christ. The celebrations were eventually moved to January 1st for secular and economic reasons.

You're all talking a load of bollocks! The grotto is a relistic impression of what life is really like here at the north pole, and I think they just had a typo when they called it satans grotto. We're always roasting Rudolphs because the bloody things breed at a phenomenal rate, and if we don't eat them they'll soon be all over the damn place. As for the elves on spikes, I think they misinterpreted my verbal description. It should have been very scantily clad, attractive female elves in six-inch stilettos, which I have a strange affinity for.
Anyway, in Cambridge we managed to upset the local clergy by getting Captain Sensible from The Damned to switch on the lights. These churchmen seem to be under the impression that christmas lights are something to do with religion, instead of just a commercial trick to get people to spend lots of money!
blue wants me she just doesnt know it yet lol
Let me know when I do know! ;) :)
