Does anybody have the trike build book that tells of all the regulations when building a trike so that it can be registered and then mot'd
cheers

If you mean the MSVA manual then yes, I have one.

Mind if I ask you what the book says about something? (even though my trike's actually through the MSVA).
Tail lights - I have 3, the mid one is a combined tail, brake, and numberplate light. For the MSVA the trike guy had to stick a bit of cardboard to obscure this brake/tail light - something to do with it not being legit to have 3 tail lights (symmetry?) - the unit had to be kept however as it lights the numberplate. I've since removed the obstruction but I never did get to hear what exact regulation it was supposed to be breaking...

What's the book say about
-lights, mudguards, exhausts(do they need sheilded?), seats(front is single straddle type and the rear has two seperate type-or what about a bench seat?),foot rests and plates, mirrors,??
thanks again

Basically everything you need to know is in 100% Biker, Trike Tek issue 50.but briefly:-
Lights. You need 2 running/marker lights which can be fitted on the rear muduards. Over 1700 mm width you need two symetrically placed head lights. Trike Tek issue 51 full lighting regs with diagrams.
Exhaust do not need to be shielded.
Yep you need mudguards
Two mirrors
If using a 'bike type' dual seat then lap straps are not requires. Rear seat, any 'Outrigger' seats or 'Car' type seats must have lap straps.
I reckon foot rest are common sense don't you.?

is it right that, because my bike trike is over 28 years old, the new mot reg's won't apply to it?

My trike is registered as a 1968 model, but of course it isn't as it was based on a '68 VW and you could keep the original reg back then. It was built sometime in the late 70's/early 80's by Pheonix in Wellingborough which makes it 20 odd years old.
