I know there's a few disabled peeps on here so maybe you can tell me - is it possible to get atemporary disabled badge? Or where to go to find out?

Had a massive row in the hospital car park last monday cos I parked in a disabled bay when I went for my pre-op assessment - I knew the bay was marked but didnt realise that even in a hospital car park you had to have a badge! Some fnar fnar Colonel Blimp type in a huge Merc started shouting at me and asking why I had parked there - was quite prepared to explain why I'd parked there as I can understand only too well the probs when you need to park near where you want to go - only he wasn't prepared to listen to my answer and kept on shouting so I just turned my back on him and he went away!

I'm still hoping my probs will only be temporary but its been 13 months already and now looks like going on for several more months at least hence the question.

As far as I know you can't get a temp disabled badge, as you are not actually disabled. To be disabled, your condition has to be permanant. ie. two broken legs make you pretty immoble, but not disabled as you will recover in around 3 months (unless they are really broken up and it could be longer. A hip replacement or similar does not make you disabled, unless you are constantly in pain (can't walk far) or the op fails and you can't walk at all. A permanent condition, such as a broken back, amputation of a limb or similar is a disability.
Sorry about that, but that's the way they think. Even genuine fully disabled peeps struggle to get a badge 'cos of the red tape.

Well its got bits missing - no sides (they just get in the way) no footplate (ditto) - that's streetfightered ain't it?

definition of streetfighter = bike thats been slung down the road and you've taken off all the damaged bits :p

Anyway it's raining here so I can't go out and wheelie.... :( :(

what you want is a Titanium chair set to be 'Rather Tippy'
the fun that can be had

and not long ago i was bragging that i hadnt fell out of my chair for a long time (at the BMF Kelso actually)
and then proceeded to fall out of it twice with a couple of hours

Dunno what this one's made of but it's very light, not tooo tippy atm cos I'm a beginner, an it's called a 'Quickie'

ahhh a quickie
you like a quickie do you

the trouble with wheelchairs is that the cost more than a car or bike

my current one cost me £2700.00 (just craziness)

Gawd! That's rather a lot of dosh!

I am very lucky, I have been lent this one - by another biker!

Crutches are all very well but you can't DO anything while using them! Since I broke my leg I understand so much more about disability, not only the practical side but the constant irritations and humiliations. When it's finally fixed , however fixed its gonna get, I hope to use what I've learnt in some way cos I now understand that no-one who hasn't had a taste of it can possibly know what it's like. I guess that sounds a bit do-goodery but I can't help that.
