View Full Version : Triking!

I've also put this on the workshop.
I want to get a bolt on, bolt off trike end for my GT 750 simply because the windy country roads round here are really icy and exposed in winter and I have sh*t loads of books/uniforms/general crap to carry in to uni every day so thought it would be fantastic to have a trike end which could be bolted on in winter and taken off come spring, maybe put on again if we want to take the big tent and loads of luggage to a rally.
Does anyone know any trike builders who could make such a thing and don't charge stupid money to do it?

My GT550 trike was built by Bruce Burrows of BB Customs in Ferndown, Dorset. I guess it would be fairly simple to produce a modified version as the only thing that is radically changed is the swingarm, so with a spare swingarm you could have a bolt-on trike. (and he may well have the swingarm). He won't charge you anything like the prices above, but you've seen my trike, I'm told its good sound engineering.
Give him a ring on 01202 890680 and tell him Bobbi sent you (won't make any diff to the price but will be good for me next time I want a quick fix for something!) :D

Thanks guys, have decided I will trike it and we'll use it for our winter hack. I'll get myself a summer plaything with two wheels later. It makes sense really because then we'll have something we can carry a lot of luggage on and ride in ice and snow as well without coming a cropper over Beachy Head. I'm not giving up two wheel biking though!

I was looking at kit cars a while back and got in contact with the DVLA - they said I could drive a car with a maximun kerbside weight of 550kg on a bike license. So you can legally drive a fireblade engined go-kart as long as it's registered :D

there's always the chair route they bolt on and off without much hassle and I don't think you need to involve the mvsa

You don't need the money by tomorrow. Just win it first, then send a deposit and blag it for a week or so until you can fetch it. Go on, you know you want it.

But we haven't got any money, 0 pounds and 0 pence until Xmas when I'm back at work. Somehow I think he will be pissed off if he has to wait till then
