Well, you are not going to fucking believe this!!!!!

Having only just got the feckin' GT back on the road after the last incident, on my way home from work someone else decides to have a pop!!

This time, I was turning right on a roundabout, doing everything by the book - aproaching the roundabout in the right hand lane, indicating right until I passed the first exit, started indicating left so everyone else could see me straight ahead * moved across the roundabout to exit in the third exit and BANG! - bike gets caught from behind, bike goes spinning round, back wheel goes under I go flying backwards as the bike carries on going down, I roll over onto my right hand side (Oh for the new Body Armour I got a month or two back) and go sliding down the road.

All because some twat thinks it is OK to turn right on a roundabout, by going all the way round in the left hand lane!

As you can imagine I am fucking fuming. All my hard work on the bike, gone to sh1t.. tank dented where bars hit it, mirror smashed on rh side left indicator twatted, right back indicator smashed - worst of all, the casing on the right hand side of the engine has just gone smash, with it, the electronic ignition!!! (otherwise I would have limped home).

luckily, I am not injured apart from a banged arm, tho' nothing serious.

I have got a very very good witness who saw me indicating correctly and everything who has agreed to stand up for me on this one - the ironic thing about it, is it is a breakdown driver for Norwich Union - the firm who the other tosser (as in the tosser from the previous case that is) is insured by!!

Thank fuck for Mrs R... who had some weird premonition (or feeling anyway) who was really cool when I phoned her from the side of the roundabout!! :D (My heart cannot belong to anyone else... ever! especially after what she's been through with me this year)

A round of Fucks will go to the AA tomorrow, who refused to pick the bike up because it was an accident - bastards! Only just given them over £90 for their 'service'

Picking up the bike tomorrow, with help of one of the MAG reps down here - glad he's got a van!!

My arm hurts a bit... It's going a bit dead but I'll keep it moving - doesn't feel like it's broken or owt! (been there)

here we go again... "Arthur Dent, you are a dead man" (Douglas Adams... a god indeed!)

Bad luck Mitch. Glad you are okay though. The long and short of it is that the bike can be fixed (again), and you are okay, thats the main thing.

Excuse me Mitch, Mrs R was not cool about it, Mrs R went outside the front door and had a bit of a scream - don't know what the neighbours thought :)
I'm off to put on my robes and get my cursing stick out and I am going to curse:
The wanker who ran into Mitch for exiting his car as Mitch lay on the ground and leant over him to demand to know what the fuck he was doing going round the roundabout in the correct manner. According to him you turn right at a roundabout by going round the roundabout in the left hand lane????????
The AA who didn't give a fuck and said breakdown cover doesn't include your bike breaking down as a result of a twat running over it but said they would be quite happy to arrange for us to be taken home for £150.

I was thinking, we have this tossers home address, if we post it here in a few weeks time maybe everyone could send him a copy of the highway code with TWAT written on it from all over the country :D

I'm not sure what Pat would say about that!!!!

How much bad luck is that ?????? :(

Mitch,I'd get that arm looked at if I was you,but I'm not.

Maybe time to get shot of "that" bike could be jinxed, and them there "catlicks" have some strange ways about 'em.................

I'll get the arm looked at by the GP tomorrow, at least the old bill have been OK, they have said they'll keep an eye out for the bike tonight, to make sure it doesn't walk (though it is attached to a road sign by U-lock).

I think it is time to get rid of that bike though... wise words indeed - I've had nowt but trouble with it this past year or so - time to go!! I may be able to get something decent (here's hoping)

Something I forgot to say earlier * the witness saw my indicators to say I was coming off the roundabout three car lengths away! so quite why the bastard who hit me gave me the attitude. Maybe I should have twatted him!

Too mant idiots treat roundabouts as fecking short oval racing tracks. Its the same stupid feckers who don't know how to use them properly.
Shame you wasn't driving an artic mate.........or a tank.......or an artic.....with a tank on it.
Glad you're ok though and Mrs R, bollox to the neighbours, scream all you want :D

Seriously get the arm looked at because you need it on record so that you can make a claim. A bit mercenary I know but you've got to get as much as you can off the bastards insurance.
If you happen to need another witness, I saw everything as long as you tell me times and places. (I'm not joking)

Sorry to hear about this, Mitch. It's not been a particularly good year for you has it? The wanker who knocked me off was far too worried about what I had done to his car than what he had done to me. Twat. The worrying thing is that there's loads of twats like them out there, an accident just waiting to happen.

As far as I am aware, cos he hit you from behind, he is at fault. Don't let the bastards try to settle for 50/50 or knock for knock.

sorry to hear about this mitch.. especially as bike was sooo cool, and totally yours after you rebuilt it

hope arms ok..

Sorry to hear about your acci o but .make sure you get that arm looked at. Make sure that the twat gets done fer as many moving traffic offences as possible.Mrs R dont go round and twat him send his addy to all of us an we'll all go round an make sure there are no witnesses .I'll be using a big fuck off cursing stick an sending it in his direction (I've got a nice selection of 250year old trees I can use :D )

I got knocked off my bike a couple of years ago by a knob in a stolen car who then drove off so I had no-one to claim against, but someone told me that the Motor Insurers Bureau holds a pot of cash for you to put a claim in for if there is no-one to make a legitimate claim against.
Your insurer won't give this information out freely so you have to push for the info. Most claims solicitors know about it. It took about eight months but I got the bike paid for, and me and the wife both put in a personal injury claim that was paid out as well.

I'm bloody angry for you mate, reading this and swearing *ba stard, ar se, dic k head blah blah blah.
I think I would have probably beat him up there and then in the middle of the roundabout, the thing is these people are so f-uckin selfish they really of no respect for anyones life, and many look down on bikers like scum, I am becoming more and more nervous to go out on my bike.

Reminds me of the last accident t'other half had. Paramedic in ambulance going "It's a shame we've got to cut these BRAND NEW LEATHERS off you!"

She's going "Eh? It's an old FT jacket"

"You must be delusional luv, they're expensive THESE BRAND NEW LEATHERS that we'll HAVE TO DISPOSE OF AT THE HOSPITAL" :D

Humour over, I hope it all works out ok Mitch.

glad to hear you seem to be ok, but get your arm sorted. I was hit by some dickhead in a car a few years back ( I can still hear the old woman screaming "I hope your insured, you'd better be insured" and she was only the passenger) my elbow met the post at the side of his windscreen and bent it, thanks to body armour/high impact foam, no breakages ok it felt a bit sore but there seemed to be no damage. A couple of years later I started getting tingly fingers and the lost the sensation in half of my hand and if my arm was immobile for 10 mins my arm would go completely numb. I ended up having it operated on but things are almost as bad again.
But like a few people have said go get your arm looked at, might be ok now but if it goes dodgy in a couple of years time you'll have the evidence to sue the bastard.

Oh yeah, the other guy rang this morning to check insurance details, he still can't understand that he was in the wrong. He doesn't seem to understand the highway code!!!in that if you are turning right at a roundabout you go round it in the right hand lane, he thinks the correct way to turn right is to go round it in the left hand lane and overtake other people already on the roundabout
Wanker, he is some excecutive high flyer - that explains it all really.

I'm getting the same feelings in me left arm now, so I think the impact was transferred to me neck not just my right elbow.

how many 'lanes' on the roundabout?

I always watch for tossers drifting between lanes on roundabouts

wegit
19-11-2004, 12:26 PM
About 14 where I live.... Although I think that's only what car drivers are lead to believe !!!

bill?
19-11-2004, 12:45 PM
round here we got 2,3 and 4 lane roundabouts but the car drivers make up their own, as in I want to go from here to there, so I'll go in this lane, cut that lane and then move to the other and then at the last minute I'll turn sharp left.
don't they realise roundabouts are the same as any other straight road and you got to be in the correct lane for turning left.

or right.

AW mitch that is so bad, your bike was done up soooo nice too :(

hopes your arm is ok, tis always a good idea to get it checked straight away in case you can make a claim ( prolly won't accept a claim made a month later),

hope you get a really nice new bike too

you should tell cops what fella said about lane discipline at roundabouts and suggest they send him to re-take his test

I think you can make a claim up to 3 years later, this gives time for the problems to appear/come out /manifest them selves, but if you been to the hospital and got records the time period may be longer.

once again it goes to show how standards of driving have gone down. i don 't know what it is but bikers seem to be held in even more contempt now than we were years ago. also mitch, claim for every single penny you can, whiplash, back pain anything, because none of what happened was your fault you should screw as much cash off that tossers insurance as possible.

I've just asked our motor claims department and they say 3 years with an injury.

If you have a camera, take photos of any injuries and bruises as they develop. Had a fall at work, not too serious, but bruising looked horrendous. Photos came out very well and impressed the solicitors.

Be prepared for a long battle and stick it out. Don't forget the flash backs and nervousness when riding. According to the expert witness (an orthopedic surgeon) who did my examination, to assess the extent of my injuries, I have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder along with some severe nerve damage to my leg. My accident was three years ago last june, but we had to have a court date within three years. I am now awaiting an offer.

Also because I get stressed over the chances of being employed again, should my firm fold, they are trying to claim £6,000 compo for that although they hope for £3,000. I beleive that the company will be in China within 2 years.

Hope things go OK and push for everything. keep all reciepts, bus tickets, parking tickets etc that are accrued due to your accident.

Yep, when I had an off years ago my solicitor told me to list all the times people did things for me that I would normally have done, like mowing the lawn! And how much it cost them in petrol to do it, and how much I spent on painkillers etc. AND he got it all too!
