hi all i am runing a d reg fz 750 over winter and i won't to fit a 3 spoke 17" rear wheel in it to give me a wider choice of tyres.at the min i think its got a 4.50x18" fz1000 wheel in with a 150 rear tyre.the tyre seams to narrow as i keep runing out of rubber i know i could fit a wider tyre to this rim but their is not a lot of choice in the 18" size. i would like to keep the cost to a min with it being the winter hack so it would be handy if i could keep with the rear disc i have and caliper since i have just put new pads in it thanks.

You should be able to get a 160 on a 4.5" rim. You running 120 on the front or 110?

running a 120 on the front.i know i can get a 160 on the rim but i won't to go to 17" so i have a better choice of tyres + i can use the old tyre's from the back end of my v max since i change them at 3mm other wise its starts to slide a bit to much in teh wet .but they will be fine on the fz .thanks for the reply

if it's a FZR1000 18" rear wheel you should have a 160 on it. my old FZR1000 ran a 160 on the back and my only trouble was ground clerance. even after longer rear shock and spacers at the front.

but i think the real problem was me thinking i was on a race track, and thinking i could ride well too.

hence that FZR had more hits than elvis!

i think the later FZR1000 17" 3 spoke wheel should go in where the 18" FZR1000 3 spoke came out of. from memery that was the common conversion back then. but it was about tyre salection and fashion. my issue with the FZR was ground clerance so i stick to the 18". you could still get the tyres in the same range, you just had to plan ahead to get them ordered for you. i'd assume you can still get brigstone BT010's and BT020's in that size.
