This has probably been talked about before but I need a new helmet and am looking for recommends from users. What helmet do you like and what should I buy?

What ever fits you comfortably is a start. No point spending £400 for a lid that's the wrong shape for yer skull.

spot on :D
As someone else said, get what fits you.
Most helmets are too short for me, some don't even cover my mouth. (OK, I've got a miss-shaped head!)
I like light-ish helmets.
Had a Roof Boxer, too noisy and fiddley.
Gotta Davida Lunar now, just right. (For me.)

Ignore the ACU Gold sticker unless you are wanting to do track days. ACU dont test helmets, they just sell the stickers to manufacturers to raise money (See scandal in MCN lately). Get the best you can afford without crying if you scratch it. Fit is really important and also check that the visor seals well (some cheaper ones like my NITRO dont sit right on the seal and then get windy at speed).
I had a KBC and it was great value for money, comfy and well built.
Shoei and Arai are reputed to be the best you can get but they cost a lot.

I've read that folk either have a Shoei shaped head,An Arai shaped head or a head that fits neither......

I've had shoie, arai, AGV, lazer, a "not for rod use" open face shorty and even split open a kiwi but the best i've ever had is my HJC.
the way to chack a good helmet is fit. if it feels good and you can were it all day and it's not to noisey. that the best one. i have a dislike for the plastc ones but i havent seen one for a while. but the kiwi i split open was a plastic secon hand one and i managed to write off a car with my head and arm. split the helmet and broke my arm in 7 places. the bike got the other car.
go for the one that fits. most seem OK thees days. i also only use one with a DD fastening too.

I've got a roof which is brill in the summer but mists up to much this time of year I'll probably get one that fit's well and is light enough but also can fit a demister thingy inside the visor
Just got a Shark RSI - very comfy, quiet, anti-mist visor, funky shape, good price (£189), nice lid.
Have a look at 'em here - www.nevism.co.uk

Just replaced me Roadster with one of these and it seems better than the Roof so far. Really nice fit and not as "microphone-head" as the Roof.
