What the fukk is going on with this forum?
I have been away on holiday for a week, and when I got home last weekend, I trudged through the threads I had missed, and quite frankly, seems I dint miss too much............
But, then every forum goes a bit flat every now and then, so I weren't really too surprised. And I certainly weren't thinking 'This forum is shyte, I am off!'

But this week, things have changed. I am still not thinking 'I am off', but all this shyte with newbies registering then coming on just to wind up the regulars, is really pissing me off.
OK, I know I am not the most popular person on here, and I know I don't always post something interesting or funny, but I am a member who has posted on a regular basis, and feel therefore I have the right to an opinion.

I have been looking at the members list, and the amount of people who registered up to SIX months ago and have still not posted, quite frankly is a fukkin' joke! A forum is for chatting, or so I thought, but 100% seems to be a place where you can register, then just pop in now and again just to see what people are chatting about. To me, thats wrong.
If I had my way, I would delete all those members who have registered but not yet posted. If an explanation is posted as to why this is happening, those who are deleted, but want to join, will get a regular to put them forward and re-register. That way the forum will be a much happier place, coz everyone will know someone. And I do think there should be a minimum amount of info you have to put on about yourself.........ie: location, gender, marital status. There have been cases where people have gotten friendly with those they thought were single, only to find they have been married 20 odd years....................
Would it not work better to have members by recommendation only? Every newbie should be 'known' by a member. That way we dont get people like Vespamania, Kissmyarse and the like, who get pleasure out of winding up the regulars. To start with, these wind-ups are funny, but they always end up with threats of violence and personal attacks on people.
FFS! It's like break time at the local kindergarten............

There has also been some attacks on here towards poor ol' Nik. He is the editor of the magazine, not the boss of the forum. Does he have a responsibility to this forum? I don't know how it works, so I am just asking the question. I thought the moderators were here to keep everyone in check, after all, do they have a say in the format of the mag?
I would guess that Nik has enough on his plate trying to keep the readers of the mag happy (which in the past has proved to be a job in itself!) without having to worry about the shyte that kicks off on here too.

So, thats my opinionon the subject.
No doubt there will be someone on here who tells me to 'shut the fukk up' and 'stop fukkin' whinging woman', but this forum seems to be sliding slowly to the pits of shyte, and that would be a sad thing to happen. I do quite like it on here, and I have met some sound, genuine people thru this forum.

Go on then, tell me I am talking shyte again................
Just trying to help......... :p

Morning Juke!

wooah! A bit heavy for sunday Morning!

But a lot of what you say here is making sense!

I don't agree with you about personal introductions though, people should be able to come and go as they please. I think the moderators have got to be a little more diligent in their duties, and when dispute kicks off i.e when it gets to the insults stage then a verbal warning (a PM?) and demand to apologise, if it continues, a temporary ban, and if all else fails a perma -ban!

It doesn't help when members "create" a new member an starts winding other folks up for a laugh! They may think it funny and to their mates that may have been privvy to the private joke! But i the long run it aint clever and it certainly isn't funny!

We've lost a few nice and decent members over the last year because of this, and they have been long standing members of this forum, even before it was given a revamp due to some moronic hacker and sometime previous member, having a grudge with sombody on this site, but I'm not sure who that was.

We all don't mind a piss take and we expect a bit of sh*t to fly around on occassions! We are, after all, entitled to our opinions,be it as a newbie, an Elder member, or a mega poster like Fayji, we have all just got to act a bit more responsible and respect the other members bit more that's all.

I love this site, and the members, and it would be a shame if we had to start bringing in "rules", then the rot really will have started to set in, and I think you will find the members leaving in droves.

The question about NIK being in charge is a moot point. As Editor of the magazine I think he has a moral responsibility to be "in charge" as the ultimately the reputation of the magazine is at stake! But in reality the responsibility lies with us, the membership, to see that things are running smoothly!

We need to respect each other more!

*stands down from soap box, takes a bow and exits stage right!*

well.... I've been a member for a couple of years now.. though I don't post that often (not always the most talkative of peeps), but, I do tend to come on every couple of days for a quick mooch around. Does this make me the wrong kind of member? I suspect that there are many members who do the same.... I don't know many of the peeps outside of the forum, though the ones I've met are sound enough for me... :)
as for the windup merchants - ignore their threads.. they'll soon give up if no-one bites.....

Ye both are right. Juke makes a valid honest point in her own great way and it's clear she is upset at what has happened.. Juke don't leave things will improve.. if we all leave there will be no forum. Newbies are not the problem per say....

It's the fake newbies, the pooh stirrers that are. If people join a forum and don't post then fine, better than joining and being an arse. I am a member of a few forums and I drop in but only this is regularly visited.

Ref Niks role.. yes mag and forum are integrated.. and he has some responsibility to forum, but as FT says we have the most.. we are the members.. if we want it kept alive.. we must visit in our numbers, we must respect each other, occassionally take the pee, have a laugh, share our good and bad times, and have the odd argument. It is up to moderators to ensure forum is kept tidy and free of nastiness, and no politcal or racial bias and to remain obective and keep the peace... I think there should be a little more moderating....Perhaps Nick could make his presence felt a little more (nice hint).

Ref managing the asshooles... well a polite pm from a moderator, then a warning and then your out... log the ip addresses etc, and ban them from joining again. Make joining a little more difficult have some obligatory information you have to answer, like your real location and address, and etc, that is only available to moderators or editors.

We get idiots on here from time to time, they go as quickly as their five minutes of fun lasts, don't leave cos of some immature behaviour. They'll son get bored or banned.

:D

However, letting these clowns spread their sh!t is doing this forum no good at all.I realise the mods can't be here all the time, but enough is enough.I don't want to seem like I'm knocking Nik,but he has a responsibility here which he appears to be avoiding. After all,Pat managed it very well.

Just a thought.. people recently posted how bored they were with the forum.. now there is silly idiot on here it's got a bit lively... not for the right reasons, you can understand why it might be allowed to run for a measurable risk while.. just when you get people wanting to leave it'll stop... I hope. just a thought... never say it's boring again.

Well, to put my pennies worth in, i just think that the forum should just be moderated a bit more. I'm relatively new on this forum but I take part in a couple of others elsewhere, bike related, music related and just general bollox related, and I'll chat in any, depending on how I feel, other times I'll just read about what everyone else is up to.
When you're sat in on your tod cos you're a single mom but you want to still take part in the outside world, these forums are great, and occaisionally open up offers to meet new people and to make new friends. Obviously, different people use them for different purposes, even just coming in them to wind people up but still, makes things interesting and gets people chatting more than usual and you get to see another side to people and how they act when they get pissed off!!! Makes me wonder if I'd ever want to meet some of the people on here incase I get on the wrong side of them!! :(

Thats a very negative way to look at things...

If you treat folks here as you would expect to be treated, then why on earth would you be wary of meeting anyone from here?

If on the other hand you do what two certain folk have been doing for the last week, and that week is 6 days too long that they've got away with it in my opinion, then you have to expect to get back what you have been dishing out.

doesn't that make sense to you?

I don't recall you saying anything to upset anyone, so i would be pleased to meet you and buy you a drink at any meet..

so cheer up girl... :D

OK. Fed up with this now. It's plain an' very fuckin' simple people. Ignore them. Don't join a thread they start if it's abusin' members on here. If they join a thread an' are abusive in the same manner, ignore them, carry on your conversation as if they wern't there.

Simple, self-moderation. Don't wait for Hugh, Pat, Nik, Bob, Jo, Fredbob or even prospect mod Rob to jump on 'em. Jeez, at worst it's name callin', fuckin' playground stuff. Call my mum a lazy arsed whore if you will, don't mean sh!t to me, she's not, I know it an' I know that chances are with a couple of exceptions on here that anyone makin' such remarks hasn't got a clue about anyone in my family. FFS if you rise to the bait, as has happened so many times on here, who's the fuckin' idiot ?

Take some personal responsibility folks it's not that difficult.

.... an' to be quite honest, how many times has it turned out that the wind up merchants have been psudonyms for existin' members on here that just got bored.

Very sensible attitude there Steve, i agree with all that.
Don't see registered non-posters as a problem meself Juke.
I'm registered on a few, and never ever post, just to look thru and see what pearls of wisdom i can glean, need to register sometimes to use the search facility if i got someone in my sights and wanna find their posts.
Me big brother registered on the odd one, but don't like to post, just read 'em when he gets boored.
As for this trumpykeks and twinkle-fucking-booboo nonsense from regular posters, it's bullshyte, and i'd ban 'em.
If you wanna wind some fucker up, do it under your own name, works okay for me.
And, Steve, as for calling Rob a prospect mod, fucking priceless....  :D

Good one STEViE ..

From a Newbie point of view, cause me n the missus are new to the forums.. can be a little intimadating(sp) coz you lot seem to know each other real well like real old friends and that .. however we persisit (well i do, some of the postings happen to fast for the missus to keep up) am not new to the scence nor the mag (subs to this and BSH) and so we keep coming .. is hard sometimes to post and I just kinda read the threads and enjoy doing so. We do loads of rallies with our club and hope to get to know you lot a little more over the years. We know STEViE and he knows us,(Jus and Zo/3b's) I reckon that's a good start :) and am sure loads of you know us/me by face.

Dont let any twat's ruin this ... this is great, good advise, good banter, good pi55 taking.. nowt wrong with that, yeah ok it's a little tough to be a newbie but aint that life!! we got a 16yr old lad turns up on his 50cc moped down the pub, waist coat, cut off etc and most peeps take the piss, I dont ... I was him MANY years ago .................................................. .................................................. ....................... fookin hell where did I go with that!!!!? .....man, I gotta stop takin this stuff .................................................. ..........................

I've got nothing against newbies, nor , I think has anyone else on this forum...Your right, we were all noobs here at one time or another.
The problem is ...although noobs are welcome here they shouln't barge straight in and start ripping the **** out of the members here just for a "laugh"
the way some sad buggers have done in the last week or so

Sure theres a lot of slagging/pisstaking goes on...(Haggis eaters/welsh sheep shaggers/midgets, sorry earnie/yorkies/ and the like, but when the **** hits the fan we always seen to be there for each other in the true "bikers together sprit"

This Forum, Just like in real life, I always treat people as I find them and mostly its reciprocated...I've met a lot of the members here in real life and can honestly say that theres not one of them I would'nt stand a bar with and spend some time and have a beer with

Where IS the ignore button?

I use it on other forums and I love it too, it makes you go "hee hee hee" when it says 'you have chosen to ignore this user'

some of the pish that has been posted by certain people is very hard to ignore and not snap at
The point of the ignore button is that you don't see what they've posted - on another forum I belong to a concerted 'ignore' by the established members resulted in the ignoree just slinking away never to be heard from again!

Hey Bassman, was that reply to me? Cheers for the drink offer, may just take you up on that!! :D
I don't think I've said owt thus far that's upset anyone, ....there's time yet though!!! :o
I try not to say anything that would upset anyone, not intentionally at any rate, and I wouldn't hesitate to apologise if someone took something I said the wrong way. Obviously some people do just say stuff to wind each other up, which is fair enough if it's all in jest and you're mates.
It's a hard thing to step into though when you're new on a forum as you do get people that know each other and you can see they're having a banter and you can feel like you're being rude if you interupt it by adding a post.
