Right got sent this and thought it might be appropriate since it's a subject which has been discussed at length. I have checked with the organisers and it is open to all. If its the same chap who trained me he is an ex Devon & Cornwall copper and was very very good.


Motorcycle Emergency Aid Course

Saturday 23rd September or Sunday 26th November
Carnegie Sports Centre, Headingley Campus,
Leeds Metropolitan University
09:00 – 16:00

Provided by Leeds Metropolitan University in conjunction with Leeds City Council and West Yorkshire Police)

Course aims:

A basic course designed for motorcyclists (or non bikers with a particular interest) who wish to acquire life support and first aid techniques, or as a refresher course to update knowledge and skills.

The course will :
• Address the type of accidents and injuries that may be sustained by bikers.
• Give practical information on ‘incident management’ and ‘protecting the scene’.
• Provide current information on crash helmet removal and offer delegates the opportunity to practise techniques.

Certificate:
A Motorcycle Emergency Aid Certificate (valid for three years) will be awarded to all those who complete the practical assessments during the day.

Cost:
£45 (lunch included)

Other info:
Bikers attending the course may wish to come dressed in, or bring along any ‘gear’ which they use for riding (including helmets).
