Just received this press release - for your information:

The BULLDOG BASH has been nominated for BEST THEMED FESTIVAL in the first ever UK Festival Awards – and we need your help to win!

There are 12 categories in total and all are voted for by the public, so we are asking you to get involved and make your voice heard!

The awards are hosted by Virtualfestivals.com and aim to recognise and reward the artists and event organisers who helped make this summer one to remember.

The nominees have been selected by a panel of over 100 journalists and photographers – all of whom got their legs muddy and their faces burnt at this year’s festivals.

Steve Jenner, Managing Director of Virtual Festivals, said:
We are pleased to nominate The BULLDOG BASH for the UK Festival Awards 2004. This festival proved to be a real highlight of the summer and offered a massive contribution. We wish them the best of luck!

Winners will be announced on December 6 th, determined via public vote on a dedicated website - www.festivalawards.com - where votes will be counted over a three week period from 15th November. Prizes will be presented to the winners in person.
The full list of nominees will be announced on the above site on Monday, November 8th.

Well the Bulldog bash and other big "bike rallies" are becoming more like festivals rather than traditional bike rallies, therefor if I was going to have a favourite festival to go to it would probably be the Bulldog bash. Now if It was best bike rally that would be a different matter :)................goes off to vote:)

Well thats gonna be the death of the bike side of it if it wins, me reckons.
As said rallies like the bulldog are fast becoming music festivals first and this will just add to that side of it.

Yes, because of course if it wins that means there'll be no more drag strip, no custom show...

Right.

People only go to events that they're intrested in. All the comments about chavs at Stormin, come on its Bolloxs how many hot hatches do you hear with Golden brown coming out of the stereo. A lot of the time the people who are young and in baseball caps etc are along with their parents.
Events have to make money, which means people through the gate. But they will only come if they want to. The bulldog will always be a bike orientated events. If you've been you'll know whats there.
Think it will only be time to worry if the headline act is 50 cent or eminem etc. Or worse Willie Nelson!

I'm still working on the Willie Nelson angle... :D

No please don't Blue. Steve Earle would be much better. Id rather hear Copperhead Road than '' To all the girls Ive loved before'' any day of the week.
Dont ask for Pats opinion she'll want Neil Diamond

This is true, and a terrible vision not even worth thinking about.

And Willie Nelson has not only written but sung some brilliant songs. The Julio Iglesias incident was a mere lapse probably to pay his tax bill!

If you're on speaking terms, any chance he can have a relapse and pay my tax bill?

How about some one voting for a real bike rally with just bikes at it. Or is that just a festival with only bikes at it. Hmmmm i will have to think about that one.

The real sort where everyone sits in a field with no live music and the sole entertainment is some 'rally games' (the object of which is usually to humiliate someone as much as possible) and then gets pissed out of their head and rides home the next day reckoning they've had a really good time? If we're really lucky it rains, and of course there will be no portaloos because they're not 'trad'. Oh, and don't forget the 'rally virgin initiation' (see comment above re humiliation).

It wasnt that many years ago that people where moaning about not enough to at rallies/parties etc and that the daytime was dead etc etc.
Seems a shame that people are slagging off the big events as commercial, too much like festivals etc etc. Variety is the spice of life, if it isnt your cup of tea dont go. But 25,ooo+ seem to like the bash.
Also if it getting described as a festival get more '' Non bikers'' there so what, it might even start bringing in some of the ''New blood'' which we all keep hearing is needed.

Well said that man. Plenty of different styles of rallies going on out there to suit everyone.

If The Bulldog aint ya thing then dont go but dont go and then moan it aint ya thing.

But not all bike rallys are like that Blue, if you take the Farmyard for an example. The event is large and could be described as a festival, but it only has bikes and bikers who are allowed to go to it. Not all bike rallys are small, with welly throwing and virgin beating for entertainment.

I don't think there will ever be enough rallies/festivals to go to. There is certainly enough to do the rest of the week. Aint that right, boss?
