Just been reading Creatures thread on Freddie Mercury.
Just wondered hoe people on here really feel about homosexuals/lesbians?
If you had a mate who you had known for years, was a sound bloke, then you discovered he was gay, what would you do? Years of friendship down the drain coz he is not the same as you?
Would it not matter so long as he dint try ramming it down your throat?..... :eek: :p
And what about lesbians? Most people think thats ok, but men together is disgusting.
I must admit, I personally would rather watch two women 'at it' than two men, but thier personal sexual preferences really matter nowt to me.
I have friends from both sides of the fence, and my gay male mates are bloody good blokes.
Would be interested to see how others feel on this. But I think I already know........... :rolleyes:

those that i have known thru my lifetime have never publised there sexuality or tried anything on.
unlike many people/pop stars today who seem to want to force everybody with there sexuality. At least freddie and probally many others kept there lives/sexuality private (even if we did feel/know he was gay)

well i was brough up with two of my cousions who r gay so i dont care if someone is gay or not and like u said juke as long as they keep it to there selfs and dont try and force it on to others i cant see a problem with it.

But then I guess if you had known a guy for years, you would probably have known he was gay wouldn't ya?
I knew a guy once, who lived with a woman who we assumed was his girlfriend.
They rallied together, shopped together, rode together....did all the things we do as a couple. Then the woman was killed ina car smash, and it came out that she was his best friend, but not his girlfriend.
Mark used to go to London alot, where he could lose himself in the crowd of 'wierdo's' and no-one questioned his sexuality.
When we all discovered his 'secret' alot of the crowd turned thier back on him, and some guys who actualy knew him best, or thought they did, gave him such a hard time, that Mark ended up swallowing pills and died in his house......alone!
He left a letter saying that he didn't tell of his sexuality, because he knew he would be unwelcome amongst those he felt were his friends. We had years of good memories of Mark, a real party animal, but in the end, his memory was tarnished by the fact he was 'gay'.
I guess the deceit got most peoples backs up, but personally I was sad that Mark had to lie about himself for so long just to be accepted.
He could drink with the best of us, out smoke most of us, and ride a bike better then all of us!
And yes it would have been obvious to us that he was gay, you would think.......
But Mark walked and talked the image of a biker as much as the rest of us. He just had another life away from us all. Yes we were shocked, of course. But most of us remember Mark as a good ol' boy, who could last the distance, and was the life and soul of the party.
Mark taught me the lesson on how not to judge people by thier sexual preferences.

What do you want me to say? I'm shocked at the kneejerk reaction of some people on here, and wonder just why they have such an aggressive and vicious reaction. In one case I'm amused, because I know many of the same people as one of the posters, and if he only knew... :D

Only problem I have is the fact that it seems to have to be shouted from the rooftops these days.
I couldnt care less what people do it their own homes
I dont see why all the fuss has to be made by having marches etc.
Recently there was a gay pride march ( Think it was Manchester, could be wrong)
And the local fire brigade where asked to attend and hand out fire safety leaflets
The firemen said they did not want to attend in uniform and also cause they are not gay.
They all got suspended.

I'm not gay, but I have friends who are, and it doesn't make me treat them any differently from anyone else.
A bloke who worked with my ex 'came out' and another staff member got really worried about it, thinking that the bloke might try it on with him on the bogs, or summat. My ex turned round and said "what makes you think he's gonna fancy an ugly cnut like you?"
Just because someone is gay, doesn't mean that they automatically fancy everyone of the same sex, so i can't understand all this paranoia. It's not like they're after me, so why should I care?
However, what I do object to any couples, whether straight or gay, touching each other up in public. I really don't like watching other peoples' tonsill-tennis either, but I'm not gonna smack 'em for it.

Yeah, I agree with that. You don't see them having marches for straight people.
I had a mate in the Isle of Man who it turned out was gay and he ended up blowing his brains out with a shotgun due to being persecuted.Personally i would not wish to be asociated with somebody who was batting for the other side.Does that make me homophobic,probably,do i care,no.I dont have a problem with lesbians but then again i dont find them at all erotic :eek:

OK, well I guess that I'm about to not get spoken to by a lot of people on here - I had a relationship with a woman when I was at uni, had a fantastic time with her, we understood each other so much better than a man can understand a woman and vice versa. We went our separate ways when she went travelling and I stayed on at uni. I find naked women far more attractive to look at than naked men, and I don't think this is anything to do with my sexuality, I know plenty of totally straight women who think the same.
I like to think I don't judge people on a label, I am sure I'm guilty of it somewhere along the line, but I wouldn't dislike someone just because they are straight/bi/gay. I have plenty of friends who are gay or lesbians, and I also know a fair few gay men that I dislike purely because of their attitude or personality - it's nothing to do with their sexuality - I just dislike a lot of people!
If being bi means that some of you change your opinion of me then I think I'd rather not know you anyway!

Rubbish. If you find a member of the same sex MORE ATTRACTIVE than the opposite then you have bi tendencies at least.
I'm resisting any further comment on this thread at all as it's been one of the forum's problems in the past and one that has lost many of the original members - lack of tolerance.

Don't care for the act but don't hate the people as long as they don't try it on with me or my family...........................also don't like the idea of them having children as their way of life precludes them from having children why should they go out to adopt or have children through ivf.....................

I am undecided on this matter.
There is no possibility that this couple could conceive naturally, however, many heterosexual couples can't and this is often due to a genetic defect which naturally selects embryos to prevent parents passing on an illness where the child cannot survive. It could also be due to sexually transmitted diseases, or ill health - overweight, high blood pressure, poor diet, smoking, excess alcohol/fats can all cause infertility.
The other side is that as far as adoption goes and this obviously does not apply to IVF, there are so many children who are not wanted, and who are living in homes, being fostered between different families every month... is this not of potential benefit to the child to have a stable loving family home? There is no evidence that children brought up in a same sex family have any more or less likelihood of being homosexual or bi them themselves. Perhaps being brought up in an unusual environment makes them more tolerant?

Some people say that they know from being a very early age, and some people think they have been born into the wrong body. Some people have a very strong belief on this and undergo treatment and surgery to change sex (this is where my research area lies).
Why is it right to take it up the arse now? Hell people have been doing that for centuries, ever since they evolved enough to realise that it didnt get you pregnant.

Having lived among many people who should not be allowed to have children i think perhaps people should have to obtain a licence to have children, but that is another matter!

I just judge people on how I find them...there is good and bad people of every sort, gay straight or otherwise...

I did not say any of that, I said that those things *can* be the cause of infertility. I also said that this was the natural selection. In the case of your wife then obviously she has had a medical intervention which completely changes the whole argument as without that intervention she might not be here to try to have children! I was talking about what happens in nature, not what happens in modern life.
I do not put people into categories so no I am not putting you into the same category as anyone.

Being transexual isn't the same thing as being gay. Homosexuals like the same sex, transexuals want to be the other sex.
I have no problems with gay people of either sex, at least no more than I do with heteros - there are all kinds of folks in both categories.

Can I just ask one question with regards to the "should all gays be hung drawn and quatered"
what would you do if it was your own son/daughter who you have loved from the moment of their birth who was saying to you "dad/mam I,m gay" or would they know what your reaction would be before it could get to the discussion , not be able to live with the guilt etc and top themselves! Imagine reading that one in a suicide note ......

People are people, at the end of the day I know some really great gay people and I know some right twats that are straight. As far as I'm concerned someones sexuality does not dictate whether they are nice people or not, they do that themselves.
