i've been building a trike with a reliant back axle using a bmw clutch master cylider as my brake master cylinder but the effort seems a bit low. Can anyone suggest a better master cylider of anything will give owt a go. Cheers MAX

you would be much better off (brake and financially) if you fit the land rover clutch master cylinder.they polish up lovely and are about £30 new.get the 0.7 one and your fluid pressure will be spot on.
good luck

My trike's got a Girling 0.625 master on it. I think they were used on rally cars and the like...

I used an mg midget clutch cylinder, until i studdied and picked folks brains about sva testing........................................... .............. .

you brake cylinders either need low lever warning lights from reservoir or have the level easily check ie a bike one with window or see through............

Yeah? The Girling master I've got has a remote reservoir about 4-5 inches away. It is a bike-type one (might even have been from the donor bike) but its behind a metal panel so its not really viewable. Plus the mounting bracket for the reservoir goes around it and so obscures most of the plastic sides.

Didn't stop the trike passing MSVA though...

Thanks for all the replies i now have a couple of options to go at. Having tried a couple i'm starting to think i may need more leverage on the cylinder. Any thoughts? Thanks for the new ideas MAX

you want ideas about relaint brakes, they are crap, i have em..........like pressing agaist a bit off wood...............

convert to discs is my advice.............was an article in a past issue told you how to do it.........not done it my self yet, but apparently well worth the effort.

Actually Reliant drums are OK. It's all about the master cylinder bore and pedal/lever ratio.... But then I'm pissed so what do I know...!
