I believe they are one of your not very good made in China brands.
Better to buy a second hand proper bike from one of the respected Jap brands unless you are a very talented mechanic.

Some of those brands are OK for the price. A kid that's doing his test with us got a Chinese CG125 copy for £800 brand new; it's OK apart from the electrics which do let him down occasionally (mainly the brake light not working - should be easily sorted if you know what you're doing with electrickery). His attitude is "what do you want for £800?"

I've heard some of these "budget brands" have ****e fasteners.

Would you honestly enjoy riding a £800 new bike? I personally wouldn't even get on it let alone take it round a bend. Any phrase containing "£800" and "new bike" should be treated with suspicion.

Sorry to argue but Triumph Tiger ton ten 650cc used to cost £650 brand new, and we used to think these bloody Jap crap Honda's won't last five minutes. Mind you I think that was over a year ago now. So who knows what the Chinese bikes will turn out like. and I don't mind buying cheap, that's why I don't ride a Harley. :D John

korean stuff was cheap as chips a few years ago, now they are becoming more and more acceptable.........look at firms like sym in the scooter market....and how much other stuff is coming out of china...some of the ones ive seen at a local shop round the 1400 mark seem pretty good value for a 125 dirt bike. and if they are properly assembled and checked out why not!!

It may well be assembled well. I would be concerned about the quality of the fastenings. At £800 all in, I wouldn't trust them to be much kop after a winter of salty UK roads.

the kinroad trailies are crap in a word

if you have ine, then make sure you waterproof the CDi unit, its exposed to the elememnst, takes full blast of salty water off back tyre

gearbox is ****e, either all up or all down, cant remember now

seriuos lack of power, in all honesty more dangerous due to the lack of power than a 50cc

check out the local car auctions, they been popping upthere with regulararity

most places going them for 595 to 695 now

really not worth it

wheel bearings go within 2-3k miles

and they quite often dont just die, they round out the wheel, so new wheel time etc etc

just run away, rahter buy an old MZ, that willgo forever and hold its value

As it's just something to learn on I don't think he's bothered. He's too young to do Direct Access so the 125's just something to get through his test on. Means to an end and all that...

As it's just something to learn on I don't think he's bothered...Then why buy a dodgy new one? I'd say he was more concerned about the "56" plate on the back. I'd rather have a used jap that will make it through the winter and have a resale value in spring.

Just my opinion of course, we all got one.

Good point that; I think his Mum had it first for her test, then it got passed to him so maybe they thought it was better to buy new for reliability or summat, but as you say a used Jap 125 could have done as good a job for less money maybe.

m,ay not be bollox, I remember a thread on here where someone had got a chinky bike out of the crate and sent it round to someones elses place because it was dangerous to ride.... can't remember the details.

that said my sister in law bought a cg based chinese bike called quadrephenia! all seems fine except the side stand needs a grinder taking to it cos it hits the frame before it can support the bike!
