Hi everyone, any of you got any idea of prices?
I been looking at a few GL1000 engines for this trike o' mine.
I've been looking at one particular engine on the old ebay; the guy is saying he is just selling the motor, minus the starter, altenater and anything else that is or was bolted to it. The guy say's it's a runner! My Question is whats the rough market price/value of a engine thats done around 50,000 miles?
I am thinking of buying this because I have never found a garage in Brum that would take on an' sort mi trike engine out; I decided to buy bits an' bobs in (engine, carb's altenater, etc) to keep her running. I intend to learn how to do the job's myselfe if an' when they fall due! (I got all the books :D )

I have also found a couple that have no history (in a bike breakers yard) they are cheap £35.00 an' £50.00 repectivly, but the guy has no knowledge of why they were taken out of the original bikes,(Bust frame/bust engine or what?) an' bits are missing! In the case of these two I am interested in the cylinder heads.

Any advice anyone?

Hi Tony
Well, it's not urgent! Just that I am not happy with the left hand side (As sitting on trike) head, number two pot. Today I found a great place over in the Black country, the guy there put me onto a mechanic (true biker) an' he is sorting the head or the headgasket out for me!

All the best an' thanks for you reply

i've got half a dozen gl 1000 heads plus most other engine parts for the 1000,from a drive belt cog to a complete lump.
if you know what you want then the best thing you could do is come down to south wales and sort through what i've got.please dont ask me to send you a list of bits cos i really dont have enough spare time to sort through boxes of parts.
all i could suggest about engines being offered for fifty quid is that you will only get what you pay for,you know the rough price of spares, so if it sounds too good to be true then it probably is.

Hiya
Dusty! How you doin', got that new trike finished yet? You never did send us any more pictures. I got a head, it came from a guy up here who rebuilds the GL1000. So everything is ok at the moment. That is until I start to lift the lump out to strip down an' rebuild, hopefully I won't find anything els wrong! If I do I know who to call! I am thinking of get the whole engine chrommed, an' get her nice an' shinny again.

Catch you later, take care
