Hi all you trike bods out there, i'm building a Kwak gt750 trike, and intending to use a wishbone set up.
I've been looking around for a diff and half shafts, what ratio would you recomend for the diff?
I've been looking at Sierra/Granada, are there any other cheap usable makes you could recomend, and do you have one going spare?
I also need to be able to get hub hangers (uprights) for which ever one i use.

Don't bother with a Granada axle on account they have 5 stud hubs and you'd have to pay loads for wheels

Be careful, it will also depend on your total wheel and tyre diameter.
Check out these websites:
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/general/size.jsp
http://pw1.netcom.com/~sgalaba/mph.htm
Using these you can calculate speed to revs.
Don't forget its total diameter inc. tyre that counts
Also its getting very hard to source Sierra diffs, all the kit car boys want them!
Try these guys:
http://www.classicconversions.co.uk/fordstandard.htm
I've been looking for a 3.02 or a 3.14 for months!

Seems to me that sierra 1.6 diffs, are as rare as rocking horse S*it.
Ok so we know the sierra 1.6 diff works with the kwak gt750, what i need to know now is, what is the standard ratio for the sierra 1.6 diff?
If i can't get a sierra one i will try and find a diff from another car with the same ratio.
I took a look at classic conversions, nice but out of my price range.
This trike is being built on such a tight budget, it squeeks :)

Diff ratios vary widely on all fords, they did a 2.7 (cosworth) if you got one of those, well I'll swap my 3.36 for it... they did a 3.02 a 3.14 a 3.36 a 3.62 a 3.82 a 3.96 even a 4. something, so there is no standard one.... its easy to tell what ratio any you find are, there is a thin metal tag about 1"x1/2" attached to the diff. there are a load of letters/numbers, but one will say 3. something on it.. the higher the number the lower the diff ratio e.g. a 3.36 (mine) will give higher revs then a 3.14 with the same diameter wheels & tyres.
