View Full Version : Thinking of ya Dad.........
It's my Dad's birthday today. He would've been 70.
I lost him 21 years ago to cancer, and I miss him more each day. :(
All I hope is that wherever he is, he is proud of what I have become.
God bless ya Dad.

So sorry for you Juke.
I only lost my Uncle in Feb. but it seems like years ago!
I called him Dad because he looked after me from when I was 2. My real mum died when i was 2 and my Dad was in the RAF and was posted abroad. My brother and sister are 10 and 12 years older than me and were already at boarding school, so my Aunt and uncle looked after me.
I find when I'm doing things DIY or working on the car/bike, and come accross a problem, I keep reaching for the phone to call him to find out how to get around it, but then realise I can't. It hurts! A lot!
Yeah it does mate. Losing a parent is a pain you cant explain unless you have been thru it. We are not all close to our parents granted, me and my mother parted company 7 years ago, but I would trade her place with my Dad in a second. That sounds harsh, but its true.
The only two days of the year I have probs getting thru are 26 April, the day he died (and 2 days before my birthday), and today. But I tend to spend today with my head and heart full of the memories I hold dear of him.
Sorry for your loss also Tuck. Reaching for the phone whenever you need him is a great sign he is still with you mate. Gone but NEVER forgotten eh?
I know that feeling hun.......... ;)

Gone but NEVER forgotten eh?
So true.........was only last week we were raising a glass to my Dad. (died 9 years ago on the 21st)
It's hard when they're a good one.
I find it helps to spend the day thinking of the good times. (also makes me shed a tear or two!)
I'm sure your Dad is proud of you!

This'll make you laugh!
I was moping about outside the other night having a fag feeling a bit down about Dad. I was looking up at the stars and thought
" Which star are you on Dad? Go on! Give us a sign!"
Just then, out the corner of my eye I caught site of a "star" moving, veeery slowly in a different direction! I looked again, thinking "Blimey! He has as well!" Then it dawned on me! It was fcuking jetliner, with it's lights blinking!
"Typical! Just like him to do that! That's his sort of humour!"
I had to smile! It bucked me up though! One those good memories!
