modified reliant gearbox

can any one remember a old item in the mags tech section relating to modifying the reliant gearbox some thing to do with a spring in the gear selector i think it was a way of makeing it automatic or semio automatic.
this articale has been bugging me for ages any help out there.

i was looking into something similar a while back and came across this

i have spoken to a supplier and although they have not fitted one in an open weather envoiroment, such as a trike, with the right sourceing of switchgear they dont see why it cannot work.
it cost £995

there is another version that is advertised in the motability 'lifestyle' magazine, but i have chucked mine out now
