Just had a phone call from Shep....

He applied for his divorce in April - his ex agreed and all the papers (3 forms) were duly sent off. (Checked by a solicitor who witnessed his signature)
Time went by and he gets the 3 forms back from Reading court saying one of the 3 is missing ???????? after a couple of phone calls the 3 forms are returned.

Early June he gets them all back - this time the letter says he has not answered question 11 correctly....??????

So we actually drive to the court and a court official reads the petition and cant find anything wrong with it, however because the letter said ther was someting wrong -off he went and he eventually found someone who said that an extra word had been crossed out and MAYBE that was what was wrong with it.

So.....he has to make changes with a red pen calling the petition an "ammended petition"and it is witnessed again by a court official and represented.

Today....it has been returned again - the judge will not grant a divorce because he is not satisfied that the criteria has been met - the judge can't find the ORIGIONAL petition....... only the ammended one....

FFS - it was only ammended because the court ammended it....

He is seriously pissed off and so am I. To add insult to injury the court have charged him £320.00 for the mess they have made. (Court fees for application for divorce - non returnable)

Get the Law Society on to it, or get your local MP to write them a snotty letter pointing out that it was their mistake, so they should refund his money.

Let this be a warning to all you singles out there... don't get married!

They're very good at screwing up and not accepting responsibility, my ex had to show our divorce papers when she applied to remarry, the registrar wouldn't accept the papers cos they were old!! so had to get copies from the court again, which looked IDENTICAL to the originals, then when she re tried the one she showed it too couldn't see what the problem was in the first place! makes you wonder if they make it up as they go along sometimes

give em fuck :D

You think that's bad. 16 years ago I had a son as a result of a rape who I put up for adoption (not looking for sympathy - just giving background).

When I went through the adoption process, I was called back twice to re-sign the adoption papers because the lawyers had got it wrong.

It was bad enough for me - I dread to think how it would have affected an emotionally youngster.
