I've just returned from my 'local' Hospital, a 44 mile round trip.
My appointment was for 11.15 this morning so I set off in plenty of time.
I arriving at approx 11.00am to find the car park closed as it's being dug up with big machines.
After a lengthy search around the block I managed to squeeze on the end of a parking
bay about a mile away form the Hospital and walk back to the optomitry department.
I was only a couple of minutes late as it happened.
Then I find out why the car park is in tatters. The powers that be are installing automatic barriers
so every single person who has to drive to the place will have to pay on exit or they can't get out.
We payed before FFS it had a pay and display system that worked perfectly well.
This work must be costing at least hundreds of thousands of pounds yet last month they closed the
childrens ward because of a lack of funds. Now suddenly they have the money to install a car park pay system that didn't need upgrading at god knows what cost that no doubt will have to be recouped through parking charges. Guess who'll be paying for that then....... us fucking rural commuters that's who.
It's stinks... it's all fecking Bollox

and relax :D

This is what happens when you bring "management" into the NHS, they treat it like they are running Alton Towers and everything is designed to rip off you and me!

UHW in Cardiff did the same by building a multi storey one. I wouldn't say that the prices are high but they've installed one of those 'for public use' defribrillators next to the pay machine. ;)

The new Edinburgh Royal Infirmary HAS got a bike parking bay but you've gotta search for it,as it's hidden away.......
The ERI is a badly designed sh!thole, the Orthopaedic outpatients' dept is about half a mile from the bus stop and taxi ranks,so if you can't drive or ride cos you got a shot leg or back it's a hell of a painful hike.Been there, done that.
