picked up my keys this morning to find me steering lock key snapped in half. it's not inside the lock but no amount of pissing about with allen keys jiggling inside lock has worked. it's 'only a spring loaded push and turn job but for the life of me i can't get it to release. any help really appreciated :cool:

Usually a circlip at the back of the barrel releases it, then its just a matter of being careful on a clean area, the barrel slides forward out of the tube and the release of pressure allows the segments to slide out of the slots. Lay them out in order otherwise the new key won't fit. If it is the only key a good keycutter will be able to copy it by using both halves. don't throw away the barrel because the same key usually fits the tank, seat lock and helmet lock
A small squirt of wd40 before reassembly will prevent it fom happening again.John
