Oh, I've never heard that one... cob on. I'll know next time ;)
I think the term 'cob' derives from 'cobble' as in cobblestone road... but I could be wrong, it has been known.
Anyway, why do you lot from dahn sath think we're Northern if we're from Watford Gap and above? I'm a Midlander... from... yes, you've guessed.. the Midlands.

Hey guys,
seems like there's some sort of lifeform on the otherside of the wall at the Watford Gap. I think they are trying to communicate.
Should we meet with them and offer them a sausage butty or a chip barm???
We could find out why they walk over a brew when we drink one.

That is why there is a very good College in Oxford to try to educate the locals as to the right pronunciation of the word SCONE (SCE_O_NE).

Just butter, unless you're from Devon or surrounding area where because they have so much cream that is out of date...clotted I think they call it, they have to get rid of it somewhere so they ship it out to Oxfordshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire........etc. etc. Adding the jam is just to hide the flavour of the out of date cream.

I'm not saying that I don't like Welsh Rarebit, just makes a bloody mess of the toaster everytime the Rarebit slides off the bread.
Having said that, it took an Englishman so solve the problem...................just turn the toaster on its side......voila. So you see us English do have our uses.
