ok this posses another question, how wide do you go with the rear tyres on a trike when using the standard front end GSX 1100 to get the best handalling if using irs with twin shocks both sides

I'm no expert - I just ride a trike, don't build them :D

I've got a V-Max trike with a GSX-R1100 frontend with the forks lengthened by about 9cm. Front wheel is also GSX 17" - using 120/70ZR17 tyre.

The backend is a BMW 5-Series IRS setup with single shock on each side, 15" wheels and 265/15R50 tyres.

I used to have a fair bit of understeer but ever since I (a) changed the adjustable damper on the rear shocks to 1/2 way on the scale, (b) made sure the rear were 40psi, and (c) made sure the front was 33psi the understeer problems reduced a fair bit.

i was told to drop the rear tyre pressures to about 12 psi but this was a ridged frame, he reckoned it went round corners like it was on rails.

tell you what mate it dont look like a bad trike that. how do you find the limited slip diff and have you shortened the drive shafts at all.

AFAIK the drive shafts are unmodified - the trike's the same width as the donor Beamer. I'm not sure exactly what 5-Series model the diff is off.

I'm not very mechanically minded myself so although I know how a LSD works in principle I don't think in general I would notice the difference between it and another type of diff.

lsd come as standard on 5's i've been told by a guy that races em. :D
