hello all

Ive just noticed looking at SIDs trike back in VOL 6 of AWOL all those years ago, he has external oil lines, inlet to outlet side of the head and down to the sump in goodridge hoses. Why?? Am i missing something? my bike is a GSX 1100 G (SHAFT) and his was a GSX 1100 H (SHAFT) newer by about a year. now has he done this as a potential problem sorter or what? I do like the look of them none the less and could fit them anyway, all i have to do is remove the bolts, but, does the oil pump upto the head or is it gravity from the head back down to the sump. (ZEPPLINED, DAZED AND CONFUSSED)

REGARDS

SANK

As far as I know, the oil line is there to feed oil TO the head.
I can only assume this is to prevent the cams over-heating.

i use external lines on my magnum2 but to be honest it was more for looks than function. oil is fed to the cams under pressure, gravity returns it back to the sump :)

i thought that was it but, they do look good dont they? tell me dont you think the head may get a bit hotter with the oil being able to drain away quicker?

the oil returning to the sump using gravity is standard for all engines, that i know of

On tuned GSXs it can be advantageous to have extra oil feeds to the cams as they have been known to suffer partial starvation.Remember the project Moto Martin GSX in BSH?There was an explanation as to why in those articles.
