Just got back from France and apart from the bloody freezing weather and occasional hail storm (3) had a great time. I find the attitude of the French once you are off the motorway to be a pleasent change from the "BIKER......kill it" attitude seen here.
On the way home we stopped in at Harry's Route 66 Biker Hotel just north of Limoges. What a blast. Despite not being much to look at from the outside the inside has been well done. The rooms are clean and tidy and everywhere you look is evidence of Harry's biker roots (not the Aussie use BTW!). He clearly has a love of the Mother Road and has some tasteful memorabilia on just about every wall. Each room has a couple of Bike mags to browse while soaking off the days road kill but the best bit is yet to come.
Once the bike is securely locked away along side Harry's Shovel chop its time to sample the barbee and get into the bar. Based in a barn the wood burner keeps it toasty while the beer, and local hooch flowed free. Well not quite free but in France you can definately still get sheaded for conciderably less than here, even drinking at home! Unfortunately as an early start was scheduled we were unable to while away many of the small hours but the potential is certainly there.
The rooms are excellent and well priced at around £20 a night! If you are carrying there is plenty of space to pitch a tent in the amble "garden" and I can certainly see us returning for a more in depth study.
Any of you guys been yet?
I know Mr Fluffy lives pretty close too (very nice)
