I was talking to a friend of mine the other day, and the conversation got round to if we both lost our licences (say through speeding) We both wouldn't think "oh no, I can't drive now, what shall i do?" it'd be more "Oh no, now I have to drive illegaly" What are people's opinions on this? what would you do?

It's a slippery slope but if it was me, I dont know whether I'd be able to resist temptation.

Well it all boils down to the fact that IF and its a big IF you get caught after a ban they can and will throw the book at you...
not to mention that your pride and joy is no longer insured and any and every twat on the road can happilly crash into you even if they're at fault and claim YOU for not having insurance.....
If it was me....I'd take up offroading till my ban was up.....

Hypothetically I wouldn't give a toss but realistically I wouldn't be able to work so would sign on and move into a pub

I don't think I'd be able to stop riding/driving, so I'd more than likely take my chances, I know its wrong ie lack of insurance etc but you got to have your fix havent you :)

depends also how long the ban would be
hopefully would nbnever be in the situation
would think i would be good and not use a vehicle
I wouldn't take the risk - neither would gypsy - he was banned for a year and since he was a BT engineer they had to give him a desk job
I wouldn't be able to cope without my licence especially as I hate public transport so I am very careful not to get any points - been driving for 18 years and never had a ticket or anything
but I guess if I did get a ban all that walking would get me fitter

what he said was offensive - 4 or 5 times banned and he still rode/drove
absolutely disgusting behaviour from someone as old as him, he should be ashamed of himself
But I suppose he was only talking about getting banned from the bike and car outside the supermarket that he stuck a penny in
when I got banned I used trains and a push bike and let me tell you it's great fucking fun filtering and holding up EVERYONE on a pushy:)
And red lights aparrently don't count when you have a push bike!!

I'm 2 points away from a ban at present, Just got two years to go then I can lse four of the bugga's.
If you get caught up here whilst banned the Sherriff will ban you for a longer period, tell you to take an extended test and probably jail you for 4 months. Besides the community is so small up here you can't ride/ drive whilst banned as someone will tell the police before you do it.

Someoine once told me the thing to do is apply for a new provisional licence using a slightly different name (Same name but just state it differently like George W Bush instead of George Winston Bush) and a different address (parents maybe). Retake your test and hey presto, a new licence with no points on it!
Of course I wouldnt condone that at all

I know that when I a very naughty speeding up in Yorkshire got 6 Points and a 400 quid fine. I could have been banned and was told that the Local Bobbies who know damned well who I am and what I ride were informed of the results.....Owning Bikes in a 1 horse town gets yer noticed and I don't think I would have gotten away with very much if I had been banned...

Get new licence. that's quite a plan. I'm clean at the mo, but it's a useful tidbit.

nope i wouldnt ride/drive with a ban
with my luck i would get caught, but worse than that, what if you hit someone or caused an accident and wernt insured, i couldnt live with the guilt!
we shout about the joy riders who ride about with no licence/insurance and if they hit us we have no comeback....written off cars/bikes and no1 to foot the bill for repair....i spose what i am saying is treat others as you would be treat!
either that or say 'fair play' when some chav runs you off the road and you have no comebacks!

unless you buy a taxed motor under a false name (works best if living in a shared house or flats) and get shut before the tax runs out.....
dodgy but true....
plus the fact that the majority of these cameras are forward facing.....
and yes i am legal.....

I'd move, somewhere warm, spain perhaps or southern france.
I'd happily pay my taxes to a country that lets me do what I want to do

Been banned for 15 months ten years ago.
Sat out the ban, then went back on the road. It was tempting to break it, as the court sent my licence back to me, unmarked. But do the crime, do the time, as they say.
Nobody told me my licence had been cancelled and I have to apply for a new one though. I only found out when I tried to change my address. So in effect, I was driving unlicenced for seven years without even realising
Cheers,
Byrnie.
well to those of you who would still drive or ride I just want to say don't fekkin crash into me without insurance

i wouldnt even contemplate driving
and would probably lose my job
but it would be my own fault
my father was killed by a drink driver with no license no tax no insurance and no MOT
try being on the receiving end of watching one of you parents die and the other one lose her income because she had to give up her job to bring up an 11 year old and a 14 year and was unable to claim against the drivers insurance and so the life insurance that was there got toally gobbled up in general living expenses
and then watch your mother spend 10 years in a job she hated - because the person who killed her husband had no insurance
and then drive with no license and therefore no insurance
Samx
If I get a ban I lose my job, and the house that goes with it, so I'd have to sell the bike and car to live.
Won't ride/drive without insurance nowadays, so I wouldn't if banned, anyway. (See Sam's reply above.)
