Fecin NHS!

As I was going into hospital tomorrow to get my leg done, Mike suggested we go away for the weekend. So we went to Sussex and had a good weekend, got home this afternoon and 5 mins after we got in the door, the hospital phoned to say its been cancelled as they have no beds!

Oh well, spose its better than being told when I get there - or even being turfed out of bed and sent home like a friend of ours!

:(

Could be worse, I've seen people be shaved (you know where) or even get the bowel prep (colonic irrigation), actually get the pre-med and then get sent home. They were probably high for a week :D
It's still a pisser though - commiserations!

Thats the NHS for you! Used to be the best in the world and now we scrape along behind the Congelese! havin said that, most of the developing countries send there sick here for free medicine anyway so what can you expect! Funny that someone arriving from India with catheters still in situ can get immidiate free attention whilst people who have lived and worked for this country from birth have to stand in line!.....a very long line! But then the British are good at that arnt they! :( Erm....this was Rogue monkeys post bye the way! Women cant log out!

I'd like to know when this golden age of the NHS was. As for indians coming here to be treated, as we have emptied the hospitals of the poor world of their trained staff, where do you expect them to go to be treated? Don't blame immigrants for successive government's failures to plan long term futures for the NHS, Railways, housing etc.
Oops sounds a bit leftish

If you care about the treatment you wish to receive why not buy it privately? If you left your transport arrangements to the government you'd probably still be waiting for a bus.
There, balanced it up nicely

I'll tell you when the golden years of the NHS were - when we had a proper menopausal dragon matron - that's when. There was no slacking in those days, the ward was clean, everyone worked their socks off and thee were proper cleaner who didn't dare stand around letting blood dry on walls.
Fortunately that was before my time :)

You were beginning to sound like June Whitfield there, ever thought of selling life assurance to the over 50's - with no medical - guaranteed and you'll get this nice carriage clock free. No salesmen will call.

Oooooh yes I remember - when I had my first baby it was the ward sister!

No-one EVER stepped out of line with Sister Upton!

Ooer I can even remember her name and it was 33 years ago!
