Got this email from a friend of mine in Inverness. story so far
My son went to London for a couple of weeks and on Tuesday last week got the call every parent dreads most. He had been hit by a car while crossing the road at a pedestrian crossing. The driver was driving at 45 mph and flung him in the air.....then drove away!! He had to stop tho cos his windscreen was smashed and he couldnt see where he was going. B***ARD!!! He then got out and gave a good old rant and rave about the damage to his car. My son has serious multiple fractures to right leg, broken hip, broken thumb and slight head injuries. Not to mention the fact that he is about 800 miles away from us too. I cant function, cant sleep, cant eat.......
Luckily he is alive but the consultant did state quite clearly and matter of fact that the likelyhood of full recovery is very, very slim.

then
The nightmare gets worse. NHS in Croydon are isnsiting that we pay £1100 to get my lad home by an at least 18 hour journey by ambulance!! WHAT!!!!
Any advice appreciated and any Lawyers in Croyden.
thanks

not good, I bet I know which crossing that was at. They do have cameras all over Croydon including looking at crossings as they can't seem to drive there.
The NHS charge but expect the car drivers insurance to cover the cost.
Unfortunately I am no longer in croydon so cannot recommend a good lawyer - I would have asked about
