Tattooing robot unveiled at hi-tech trade fair
An Austrian electrician has invented the world's first tattooing robot.
Niki Passath, 25, has unveiled his creation, which he calls Freddy, at a hi-tech fair in Vienna.
He has been left with some permanent reminders of the project with some erratic early tattooing attempts.
Mr Passath said: "It was a hard job because the only person I could test it on was myself which was painful but a good incentive to get it right as soon as possible.
"He's an artist of course so he always decides what design the person is going to get, they can't choose. But I haven't had any complaints yet."
Freddy's computerised brain has a complicated programme for creating the designs that are constantly being improved and redesigned before being etched forever and for free on the bodies of volunteers at the trade fair.
Walter Franzl who had a tattoo on his back said: "It's not my first tattoo but it was really not painful at all, I'd come back and it's good to know my design is unique."
I think I'd prefer a "HUMAN" on the end of the needle though
