anybody know where i can get an oil filter for an ironhead sportster,paper element fits in oiltank.local bike shop cant be bothered looking,harley dealers ha ha ha.

my main supplier only lists spin on filters for hd.

i have enquired elsewhere and i'm waiting for a return call.

what year is the sportster? and is the oil tank genuine

will pass on the number if i get a yes from supplier

glf engineering - local highway hawk dealer - and does load of work on john deeres :)

You want a "traditional" Harley shop wot gets their fingernails dirty, not some fancy dealer in all things evo and beyond.

Try buying a sealed battery from one -
"What model number is that?" -
"FX" -
"sorry mate, can't find one of those in our computer"!


No idea who in your part of the country, but no trouble getting that filter down here.

its a 1976 xl1000 sportster.the oil tank is standard.my nearest harley dealer is 310 miles,but they arent interested in old stuff.phoned for exhaust clamps and asked why they were so bloody expensive,reply was" if i fitted none genuine parts it would invalidate my warranty"its 28 years old,how long do you get!!!has anybody got the makings of a kickstart sportster engine as i am in the procces of puting a chop together,but dont want to use the electric start motor ive got.

result!!got 4 from an independant in andjik.look them up if your over there, top people.
