Front tyre for trike WANTED

Help me out here guys only moved up to north lincs in last two years so dont know where to go for stuff at the right price . Looking for a new front tyre for the trike , V8 goes three quarters of a ton . The tyre that is fitted is a Bridgestone 110/70-17 54H tubeless (exedra G549) it has a max load range of 485 Lbs at 40 psi .Which is what I run it at . All works well but it scrubs the tyre out , it is a trike aftre all . The grand plan is to get a leading link made up and fit a car tyre. But thats for latter , my tyre is a "PLOD PULL" now so will have to get it asap. Any body got any ideas WHERE is my nearest supplier that is not going to rip me off ??. thanks. :cool:

why such a high tyre pressure?
if its scrubbing the tyre perhaps its to high?
I run the front tyre on my trike at 22 lb and the rear at 8lb.

At that psi the steering can be moved by one hand with little efort. Also the tyre can handle 485Lbs at that preasure.This trike is a V8 rover on an auto box hooked up to a JagIRS rear,its 4 metres long . Weighs in at three quarters of a ton,stick me and the wife and the camping gear on .All up over a ton, So the front wheel has at least a half a ton working through it (LOADED).Max rate for that tyre is 485Lbs at 40PSI.Now if you know of a tyre that will perform better, PLEASE tell me. :cool:

Its all well and good being able to stear with one hand, and i can understand about the weight issue that you have, but with that sort of pressure your front end would not have much grip? feel light?
You might be better off fitting a leading link front end with a car wheel fitted?
Might suit the weight a bit better?
And i would advise to NEVER run a tyre at its MAX pressure, that is the max it can take but when you ride, the tyre warms up and thus the pressure goes up!
It might be disgned to take a max of 45 lb or what ever but i bet on the bike it would be about 28/32 lb?

Have you really got all that weight going through a motorcycle front end???

As in normal headstock, forks, wheel etc?


I'd have thought a stonking Leading Link would have been more appropriate in the interests of safety.

the grand plan is leading link/car tyre. but need to sorce some one to build it , looking for a quick fix so i can still ride with out getting a pull from plod as my job depends on a clean licence.Have some cash stached for the L/L (£800). but cheapest quote so far is £1,500 :( So a new tyre for £65 seams the only quick way to get me through the next few months till the bank has recovered from our holidays. Have tryed running it at lower psi ,makes the handerling hopless. I get 4,000 miles out of a tyre , thats not bad on a trike running a motor cycle tyre. some of my m/cycle mates dont get that on there m/cycles. But they are on a lot softer compound.Thanks for the offer of help have your number will keep ya posted on developments. :cool:
