Just thought I'd share this picture with you all, taken at last week's Beachy HEAD MAG meeting - cheers Topper!

OK, I know it needs a few bits doing to it but they can all be done in good time (with a bit of money when that eventually turns up!) but at least it is rideable and it doesn't look anything like a standard GT750 anymore.

hahahahaha! Yeah, we share the same pub -

Good point, considering some of the bike engines they get in there these days!

Westfield (almost the same as the Caterham) factory is down the road from us and a mate who works their invited us to the open day last year.
I drove a Zetec engined car, and the 3.9 V8 engined beast and could see the license losing potential.
Then I was a passenger to one of the salesmen who actually races one of the things. He took me round a few miles of country lanes in a Hayabusa engined monster. I've never ridden the bike itself but the car absolutely scared me ****less. I couldn't believe the acceleration. Even faster than Yoda's trike.

Does the feckin' GT tinkering never end, now I must replace rear brake disc, front and rear brake pads and get the starter motor reconditioned as I can't afford a new one. I do say though that it is running like a rocket now after all the previous tinkering although the brakes are doing their best squealing like little piggies impression and braking down some of these hills on just front brake is not amusing :)
Is your 550 staying it's original colours Shudy?

Nice bike Mitch! So when are you going to do it up then? :D

It isn't in a club but it has a f*ckin' attitude!

It is going to be my winter hack. I am going to thrash it mercilessly and then complain in a loud voice how **** jap bikes are, when (if) it breaks down. It has a full fairing, well, 3/4ish, the screen is missing, and Krauser panniers that are lockable and detachable and look like they should be on a BMW.I have already invested £70 on top of the £40 purchase price and now Mitch is gonna fleece me of more cash to finish the thing off. If I can be bothered I may wash it once for the MOT otherwise it can stay whatever colour it is underneath the grime. DILLIGAF?

Yeah, that's right, do me down even further why don't ya? :D

Nah, fair point, when I get me insurance money!!!!! In the meantime, it may sort of go a bit ratty for the winter (after the last one we had down here...), though I could do with scraping six months worth of crud from the engine, where it's been allowed to set because of the muppet (a.k.a Third party) not even filling in his claim form yet! (only because of the piffling value of their claim, a third of the costs of mine - that is until the 'inconvenience' is taken into account!).

When it all comes through, it's going to get a proper paintjob and a decent seat made up by a gadgie down't road

I bloody hate bikes now, me and Mitch have been out freezing our nipples off all evening trying to get the soddin' front brake pads on and they are not having any of it, I think I'm going to have to get the bus (spit! spit!) to uni tomorrow.
This biking life is all really a bad dream and I know I'll wake up tomorrow morning as Mrs Normal, put on my nice pink tracksuit (one size too small) and my nylon anorak with the fake fur trim round the hood, open my garage doors (don't have a garage) and there will be my nice new shiny moped that never needs fixing just waiting for me like a little faithful friend and we will ride off into the sunset together at 20 mph ready to live happily ever after............................................. ....F*CK OOOOOFFFFFFFFFF!!!!!!!

Yeah right love... Don't worry, you're just having a very bad dream! Never fear, Mitch is here!

Your bike is outside, resplendent with three brand new sets of pads. All I had to do is attach the G-clamp to the bolthole (where there is some sort of spring) and tighten it up (the spring/piston had seized). All that farting about ... I don't know -

When I said, let there be light, I thought bollox to it, off to Sainsburys to get a bulb for the standard lamp, so I could see what I'm doing.

Got home, only to find fcukin' Standard Lamp had blown a fuse, so I had to change that...

3 sets of pads changed eventually, within an hour... phew!!

Time for bed methinks... am totally knackered.
