For those of you who watch what you eat, here's some facts on nutrition and health. It's a relief to know the truth after all those conflicting medical studies!

1. Japanese eat very little fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

2. Mexicans eat a lot of fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

3. Africans drink very little red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

4. Italians and French drink excessive amounts of red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

5. Germans drink a lot of beer and eat lots of sausages and fats and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

CONCLUSION: Eat and drink what you like. Speaking English is
apparently what kills you.

It's obvious to me that the common denominator is stress. Americans are incredibly stressy people, have high rates of divorce and social unrest and have lost traditional family groups and do not make deep friendships easily.
Japanese people also have stressful lives but have wonderful family structures and traditions which stop them succumbing to heart attacks and stress illnesses and those of them that are really stressed tend to hurl themselves off buildings before the heart attack starts! :)
Me and Mitch moved down here are totally left our past and old stressy jobs behind so that we could escape from all that and are much happier and healthier as a result.

Also a large proportion of Americans are big fat bastards.
TD skulks off to book another £20.00 an hour session with John the personal trainer at The Academy Gym in Stourbridge, because he hasn't got the willpower to walk to the corner shop when it only takes two minutes on the bike.

Our Transatlantic cousins are also terminally gullible and insular.Couple of examples:
Fran was on Princes Street in Edinburgh,a couple of Shermans came up to her and asked how to get to the Castle.Fran gave them directions (it's only about 1/2 a mile, you can see the castle from Princes Street),and they said "Aw Gee,that's kinda far, ain't there a quicker way?" "Sure, cross the road, through the gardens, over the railway and there's a lift at the bottom of the rock." As far as we know they're still trying to find it!

We were in Las Vegas a couple of years ago for a few days, same time as the LV Bike Fest (but that's another story).I was wearing a Sensational Alex Harvey Band t-shirt and a lass came up to me and asked who he was.I explained how he was one of the greatest rockers to come out of Scotland and tried to describe his music and stage show."Sounds great," she said,"Is he coming here soon?" "Ah bloody hope no',He's been deid 20 Years!"

If it's not American they just don't get it!
