*High pitched screaming* What is it with spiders indeed, I had to clear 3 off the buggers off my bike this morning and it's been the same every morning for the last month. Our bikes look like they are in the web of some giant arachnoid  Mitch knows better than to chase me with spiders GP! The resulting hysteria and tantrum is too much for him + crockery gets broken.

Spiders nevr mind about those little things Lynne picks up to chase me with!
Has anyone heard of Camel Spiders, lots in North Africa, last one I had a battle with was in Tobruk, Lybia.
Thee things are Huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge at least the size of a real mans hand
There one purpose in life is to drink blood and they dont care where they get it from animal or human, bastard things
Well there I was walking through Tobruk oil terminal enjoying the sunshine when on crept into my path.........
The bastard look at me with alll those eyes, yes all of them
I moved IT moved to block my way dont let anyone tell you cos the are smaller than us they cant be that evil
Have you noticed how they can always guess your next move, but at least I had a trick up my sleeve to save the day
Yes I ran back to the car and ran over the twat!!!!!! ha ha ha ha ah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!111111111 opps

adopting my usual prostrate position in front of the tv last night (aided and abbetted by a pint of white lightening and a spliff) i noticed movement out of the corner of my eye, and to my horror the biggest spider i have ever seen came charging towards me with fangs dripping and glowing red eyes. luckily my cat like reflexes kicked in and i shot straight up, and using my matrix- like skills, i rotated 180 degrees and landed on the settee. the look of pity on my wife's face as she picked it up and carried it outside had to be seen to be believed :o

I have to say they do appear a little larger than normal this year....

I don't like they way they gang up on you when you try to get that old mushroom from down the side of the cooker.

I have tried many methods of eradication but found none so effective as a 99p Pink & Yellow Flip-flop I bought in Dawlish around 1982..

Well I'm glad it's not me that being intimidated by great big black spiders all round the house!

But I have to tell you - at the risk of frightening you all even more - they may not be poisonous but they DO bite! I once saw one draw blood on someone's arm! Not mine cos I would have died an wouldnt be here telling you!

Are you INSANE!!!! Belize is one of the monster spider capitals of the world (sorry I shouldn't have said)
Best take the yellow pages for protection just in case :) Having said that I lived in the tropics for 6 years and they had spiders the size of the yellow pages hanging from the tops of the telephone poles yet I only ever saw one in the house. I find there are loads more over here.
They are evil though, evil and dirty horrible creatures from HELL!!!!

Ya bunch of big Wusses! Why be afraid of an itsy bitsy weeny spider? I used to have a pet tarantula as a spotty 14 year old!

I used to work in a fruit merchants for a Saturday job, and I had to go into the black hole to sort out the banana shipments for the Monday. I found this big hairy monster that was black, yellow and orange, (I think can't remember whether it was black and yellow or black and orange!). Lovely little thing it was, used to feed it on flies, grass hoppers, and daddy long legs! Poor thing died of cold though coz I didn't know how to keep it. It as about 4" long plus the legs! i used to let it run all over me, and it never bit me either!

I ain't scared of spiders or any creepy crawlies wif legs - don't even worry when I walk into the garden in the dark and their webs fasten onto my hair and they always seem to spin webs across the door just to catch yer out

but on the news it said we were gonna get an increase in bluebottles and they're resistant to insecticides and they cause disease (they puke on sh!t then trample it wif their feet then suck it up then land on yer worktops and any food left out, even on yer plate as yer about to eat - spawn of the devil) so we need to preserve our spiders and encourage them to eat all the nasty disease ridden flies

I find spiders fascinating, and their webs are bootiful. I could never sqwish one, I always pick it up and place it outside because my other 'arf is scared of 'em, the big wuss. When I lived alone I had a few living in various nooks of my flat, they didn't do any harm, and like Doro says, they caught all them pesky flies. :D

It's funny though, they do seem to be coming in some funny shapes lately. They always used to be cute & rounded, but I've seen funny long shaped ones, flat scaley ones, there was even a bright red & yellow one in my flat when I lived there (someone said it was a woodlice eater spider)... I must admit, Them ones are a bit ugly, and I wouldn't want to hold any, but I still wouldn't sqwish 'em. :p
