Something with two wheels, engine and some brakes. Mind you it helps if it starts first time as well

You can always borrow the handlebars and seat

A good cheap 100cc bike should do the trick nothing fancy as you're bound to drop it when you first start out riding.

Yamaha SR 125, good beginer bike and very easy to sell on when you've chucked the L plates away. :D :) ;)

Before buying a bike, find out if there's a rider training course near you.

They should do hire bikes on which to learn.

I started out on a CG125, and it was gravel tested quite a few times with no real ill effects.

Whatever you buy, pass your test on a 125 as my understanding of the current laws is passing it on anything smaller will give you a very restricted licence.

I always thought you "rode" a bike and "drove" a car!!!!

Anyway, just get something you feel comfortable on and not too expensive because hopefully you won't have it for long :o

We have a CM125 here if anyone's interested but it's dismantled, we may be persuaded to put it back together. It is not smart but would do to learn on and then sell on.
Mrs R's sprogg don't want it any more :(

I broke one once and sent the front wheel to Sheltie!

That's the biker equivalent of sending someone a horses head then?

About 15 years ago I saw a ZX10 with a Sidewinder sidecar (ask yer dad) and L-plates! I started on the same GS550 i've got now with a 'winder attached. At 6 feet and 16 stone there was no way I'd ride a 125,it'd disappear up my butt crack!I didn't realise how lucky I was!If you can get the cash together consider a direct access course.

I agree, I didn't bother with all the 125 stuff, just went straight onto the big bikes other than compulsory CBT day.
