Now then your probably wondering why this has appeared. well it was the oldest post i could find and i'm bored.
But while we're here anyone got any good sleeping remedies that don't involve hammers, mallets. coshes or any blunt or sharp implements?
And no fayji a piano is unacceptable too. :D

Do you want to sleep or cure it? to help you relax and thus sleep, try chamomile tea bags. They taste foul, so sweeten with a little sugar or honey to take the edge of it. You will soon be in the land of nod (not plod).

Remedy for achieving sleep or not falling asleep? Which one? if ya cant get to sleep Id go to my GP and ask him to prescribe you ZOPICLONE 7.5mg nocte! DONT let him fob you off with Nitrazepam! Zopiclone is wot ya need! Failing that.......I`d try a J before bed if ya smoke! failing that........Try counting backwards from a hundred!(not out loud mind!) I know it sounds stupid but it really works! :o I wont go into the psychology of it just trust me....Im a nurse! :o
hey RM do you know how to stop peeps from falling into a deep sleep?

Erm.....not quite sure wot you mean Doro? do you mean "deep sleep" as opposed to "REM" or "dream" Sleep? If the answer is Yes to that, my answer is Yes also, but I would have to ask WHY? I only ask cos it can be dangerous for the subject involved! Serious mode =0 :o

Ahhhh! I see! A cure! Well, that depends on whats causing the symptoms! Is the subject ingesting any drugs prior to bed time? If so, try some different ones! ;) If its not that, then you need more sleep! One thing to look for is...when you attempt to wake the subject look at the eyes! are they moving beneath the lids? If they are thats called rem sleep and the person is actively dreaming so be careful of waking them with a shock ie. dont try a soft slap accross the cheek cos you may get one back! If theres no movement of the eyes or body then thats proper "deep sleep" and no dreaming is occuring at that time, the brain is "offline" so to speak. Everyone has different levels of "deep sleep" and sometimes it can be difficult to rouse certain types! This is usually down to excessive tirdness or is drug induced! If its a problem see yer GP! Its not usually serious, but, it all depends on the individual! Mild Epilepsy can cause similar symptoms! Erm.....there are a multitude of sleeping problems and many of them are caused by anxiety! Many are harmless, but cause the person to worry which exacerbates the condition! Hope this is helpful! :o Sleep disorders are difficult to diagnose with out a fair amount of history taking! :o

Erm......no! serious! It prevents the brain from chasing its own tail with aberent thoughts! Ya brain can only concentrate on one thing at a time! so if nasty thoughts/worries are keeping ya awake, counting backwards from a hundred gives the brain a neutral stimulus to play with and hence relax enough to allow sleep to be acheived! :o

If its a problem see yer GP dude! There are drugs available to help but they are only indicated for particular causes! I believe provigil is supposed to be good but I`ve never seen it used where I work! :o Erm...do you fall asleep during the day as well? or feel drowsy a lot? if you do you NEED to see your GP! Narcolepsy may be the problem! No one knows what causes it but its thought to be a neurological disorder! The sleep/wake mechanism gets out of sync and one of the symptoms is difficulty in waking AND difficulty staying awake during the day! See yer GP! :o

hehe tis not me that falls asleep, im the oppersite lol
but the person in question does fall asleep as soon as he is not active, he must be doing something or sleep just kicks in... we are even talking falling asleep as a pillion

Well! the good news is Narcolepsy is Very rare! the bad news is....its incurable! Avin said that, (more good news) the symptoms can be alleviated with medication! BUT, (more bad news) Its only been recognised as a medical disorder quite recently and a lot of cases go undiagnosed as a result! :( Doctors used to class it as malingering! until some bright spark in america found some animals that had it! (that proved it wasnt psychological) Tell yer mate to see his doctor! He/She might prescribe him somthing that will change his life! (for the better) :o

I fall asleep at work, but then I am a welder! Seriously I do fall asleep at the drop of a hat, but that is usually when I am on a real downer (probably a form of escape).
