I've been in contact with the President of The Tribal Gypsies MC enquiring about the details of what went on and here is his reply, he has of course agreed that I can post this here.
He does also stress that the first people to be paid will be the folk that pre booked.

I think the licence thing was an excuse used by the police!
I will try to go through the points!
In the local press it was told that the police have squashed an illegal RAVE which was advertised on the internet.
If you have permission of the land owner we cannot see how this is illegal
as for the licences, each person who came or was to have come through the gate was to be made an affiliated member, which is why you sign a book with your name and address
so in the eyes of the law, this now becomes an all member party! no alcohol was to be sold tickets were to be sold and exchanged for your relevant tipple. So no alcohol licence was needed.
We were doing exactly what we have done in the last five gatherings and what many, many,
clubs do each week through the rally season.
We did check before the event went on as to if we needed licences and we were told member only, no alcohol sold and no music for paying public then no.
because people are not paying to get into the rally that's free, they are paying for affiliated membership a loophole we realise, but a loophole used by clubs since the beginning of time.
We will be taking this further, I am just looking for the right solicitor at the moment.
I will attach an e mail we sent to the local paper outlining a few points, A right to reply really! which is all we want.
Oh! we did hear that because of the name of the club the police inspector thought it was a gypsy wedding and that was not going to go on in his county, because he hates gypsies... ALLEGEDLY!
Thanks for the interest anyway Pat, whatever the outcome all I want to do is let people know what went on, and our fight in the future is not only for us but for all the biking community for the law to allow us to live our way of life.

much respect Lee .. President Tribal Gypsies MC
Below is the statement sent to the paper

Good day,
We have just received a newspaper cutting, from a Roade villager obviously this one would not be one of the aggrieved villagers.
We would like to put your article,("Bands on the run" Thursday September 9th) No story because that is what it is a story or more of a fairy story right.
Point one. this was not an illegal event we had permission from the land owner, and also spoke to the houses that were nearest the event, which was two. Both of who had no problem, one of which asked if it was possible for herself to visit and look at the custom bikes.
Point two, We would have loved 500 presold tickets in fact there was 40, to various members
as this event was held for members only. with a limit of 350 people.
Point three. At least this one was correct it was on the internet, but it was on motorcycle clubs affiliated to our club. not as an advertisement but as an invite.
Point four, Villagers in both Roade and Hartwell visited the site on Friday after police contacted the marquee company and asked them to remove the marquees we had hired
even with the threat of arrest, just to tell us how sorry they were that the event was cancelled and the only inconveinience they had was not being allowed to travel the road between Hartwell and Roade without the risk of arrest from either the five or six patrol cars the K9 unit or the three riot vans containing 14 officers in each. One villager telling us the only disturbance he had on the Friday was the sound of the helicopter flying over and over the field
This is not the first club party we have held and WILL not be the last, all other events have been held within Buckinghamshire with police consent. It just seems strange that when asked for Northants to contact Bucks police to ask them about events taken place in the past four years, they didn't want to know!
Well, I suppose after all if you wear leather and ride a motorcycle, drink, drugs and biting heads of chickens is a natural progression.
It just seems a shame that its not just us that looses out, but also the Macmillan appeal, and thames valley air ambulance that all profits form these illegal party/raves have been going to four the last four years.
So in future if you wish to know the truth about us and what we do ask us, its a lot easier

Best regards Tribal Gypsies Motorcycle Club

Tribal gypsies mc

We the Tribal gypsies mc, would like to send our most sincere apologise to all that tried to attend the gathering 2004. But owing to
Circumstances beyond our control. And the petty minded Northamptonshire constabulary. The event was closed down before it even started. We as a club can understand holding such an event in the middle of a built up area surrounded by residential property, schools, and hospitals is not the thing to do!
This is why MrPlod the event as many events held very week within the biking community was held in the middle of a bloody field in the middle of nowhere!
This still does not emphasise our apologise to people that travelled great distances to party that weekend. We of course will honour all pre-booked tickets; if these are sent back to the address from which you purchased them all monies will be returned.
We thank you all again for your understanding and patience on the
Day.
Respect …..Tribal gypsies mc
