This is weird, sad but true. Both of my friends rabbits died on the same day last week. One of the rabbits was twice the size of the other but they had been brought up together from tiny bunnies and were very close. They used to tear about the garden together hiding from each other and generally playing silly b*ggers.
Anyhow on the fateful day the small rabbit was found dead and the big rabbit was having terrible seizures and had to be put down. My friend was naturally desperate to find out the cause of death because he has loads of other pets and wondered if they were at risk.
He took them off to the vets for a post mortem to determine the cause of death. Meanwhile we were racking our brains to try and figure out why they were dead. They have a huge special encosure and nothing can get in or out and there are no poisonous plants in the vicinity!
Anyhow post mortem came back, there was not a single external mark on either of them but the small rabbits neck was broken and it had a skull fracture. The big rabbit had severe head injuries and had to be put down because it was fitting violently.
The conclusion of this sorry story is that the rabbits were playing their usual mad game of "chicken" which they always did but instead of jumping aside at the last moment like they usually did they misjudged and ran into each other head on!!! The vet said there was no other explanation for their unusual injuries!
