An American study has shown that the most dangerous time of the day for men is the morning "Rush Hour" Women have a tendency to finish off there make-up while driving in slow moving traffic, making sure the hair looks good and using the rear view mirror to correct any minor imperfections, Pouting lips at mirror to move the lip gloss around, Checking hand bag contents 4/5 times just to make sure everything is there, and then checking it again just to make sure they have already checked it.................But top of the list is 2 chatting females in a car, in traffic, talking away and having not noticed that the traffic has moved causing even longer traffic jams. :D :D

I have to agree with this, one woman was stopped by the police in Manchester for doing a crossword whilst she was driving..!!

apparently she commuted to Manchester from London every day and had become so bored with the journey she'd do a crossword....gawd

but

I have also seen men preening in their rear view mirror, and I've seen an awful lot of men reading maps whilst driving

I reckon there are bad drivers full stop male or female

worst things I see are unbelted kids and mobile phone users (again mainly men do this)

We all like a bit of speed, but speeding is knowing where to and not to, also knowing your own limits and sticking to them. ;)

Flitering/making progress, why would you want to speed knowing there is always going to be a dummy in a car ready to change lanes and take you out, in traffic your always going to get through quicker than a car, it's all down to your own judgement and staying alive ;)

My point is: why should speeding, talking on the phone, filtering/overtaking, lack of concentration, etc be viewed as wrong unless the consequences are bad.

If by your actions (or in-actions) you cause an accident then you deserve to be dealt with accordingly.

5mph over the speed limit, talking into a phone (but not to your pillion/passenger), crossing a solid white line can get you points and a fine if caught - but if no-one in authority sees and no-one is harmed then why should you be penalised?

Well I once crashed the car. I was stuck in an agonisingly slow traffic jam and thought I'd check out the newspaper next to me - next minute CRASH. I wrote off my car driving into the one in front at 5mph :eek:
I've learnt my lesson from that and never do anything else while I'm driving and concentrating on the road ahead.

Hahahaha, no it wasn't me you litigacious sod :D I wrote off my own car, the one is front was ok apart from a dented number plate. I can only assume my own car was made of chocolate - I have no idea how it sustained such a crumpled bonnet at such a low speed :confused:

I've done 120 mph on the motorway,*(safely)* but I was in full control of the bike at all times..IE: no mobile phone............

People on here seem to feel that drivers should be banned just because they are driving while on the phone.

Other drivers may want to ban bikers just because they occasionally break the speed limit.

My point is: why should anyone be banned unless something bad happens because of being on the phone (or speeding)?

It's as if there is a knee-jerk reaction to people driving while on the phone. If you mean driving erratically or badly whilst on the phone that's okay - but no-one has said as much (apart from Doro near the beginning of this thread). Both defarter and blackhack have said that they would ban drivers caught using mobile phones. In my mind that is like banning anyone who pops a wheelie, turns without indicating, or speeds.

Yes,speeding can be dangerous but just think:what is MORE dangerous?140mph on an empty motorway where,if it goes tits up,the only victim is yourself,or 30mph in town with one hand on a mobile phone,the other hand steering,changing gear,indicating (or not!),adjusting the heater & radio etc etc and your mind on listening to the guy on the other end of the phone? :eek:

Speeds... ?? ....You can go as fast as you like, (or are capable of) without being a danger to other road users in the right circumstances.

I "do" a hellavalot of miles a year, Been driving/Riding for thirty odd years without killing anyone so far, So I think I can talk from experiance.
