i am trying to find info on a serious crime commited in birmingham in i believe 1980.
a serious crime that evidently made most of the papers.
but i'm having no luck finding anything about it on the net,

i need advice on who to contact or if anyone has a memory that goes back that far (mine rarely does :confused: )

most newspaper archives only seem to go back to 94.

Not exactly a lot to go on there - it can't be 'secret' if it made the press.

ok guess i was a bit vague.
about 3 years ago my sister and her family met a guy who called himself "evan gordon" he's a good 6' tall west indian. born and reared in brum.

i've met him a few times and seemed an ok guy, a bit moody and withdrawn sometimes. he was at my sisters house almost everyday and has babysat for them on the odd occasion.
last week he got a spot check by the local coppers and they found 250 grms of grass in the footwell of his car. no big deal these days if you can convince them that you are not a dealer.
but this guy went ape in the cop car and it took 7 of them to get him in the station.
now the worrying part. he is now in swansea jail as they have revoked his
life licience
fck!!!! we have been trying to find out what the hell he got life for.
so far we believe it happened in 79-80. he served 14 years for possibly rape or rapes.
my sister is understandably upset.
because of the other work we do we have a good relationship with the police. but i think i'd be pushing it if i asked them.
it was dealt with by brum crown court. i assume the guy has not changed his name. but i would be really grateful for any info anyone might have.
