My last bike show/rally.
Music - I am sick of listening to 70's rock. I was too young to 'enjoy' it first time around, wasn't inerested in listening to it in the 80's, had far better stuff to listen to in the 90's & 00's. Friday at Stormin was garbage!! 2 marquee's playing the same ol' same ol'.
Saturday started well, Misschief (a band that looked like they were having fun)doing 'modern' covers (well, a 14 year old Metallica track was in there, that's as new as it got) and the Supatones were different and having a laugh, then same ol' same ol'. Strange that the DJ was playing decent stuff in between bands - should have just left him on...
Baseball cap brigade aka chavscum(co.uk) - Absolutely horrified to see these £uckwits wandering round!! Who let them in?? We don't drink in the same pubs as these cretins, so who let them on site?
Eating - I don't like rain in my potato. Why was there no cover to eat under?
And I PAY for this?

Erm...We enjoyed it! Apart from the stanglers churning out the same old rubbish with little or no enthusiasm! I believe the chavs were locals who had slipped over the back gate so one of the stall holders told me. Quite a bit of stuff went "missing" from the trade stalls! Anyway, We had a good time, happilly we brought our own grub so didnt get fleeced for the ****e food on offer at criminal prices! Top weekend!

Even 'I' winced at the state of the toilets...
I lived on donuts and jacket potatoes as they didn't seem too overpriced...
I bumped into a couple I hadn't seen for 2 years (the last Stormin I went to actually! They live a mile away from me...) and pissed about with them most of the time.
Quality bikes on show, met some friendy strangers, swore repeatedly at Spartcus...
The show was alright but needs some serious kicking in the ass

I am sick of listening to 70's rock.
As a sometimes Dj, I very rarely get asked to play modern rock, indeed apart from around 20 newish songs no longer take them with me.
Funnily enough tho - not often asked for much 70's rock.... 60's & 80's and some early 90's - so just wondering if your getting your decades mixed up a bit :)
On our club rally we state in the flyers that we have a Classic rock disco - that covers from 60's thru to the 90's
I only went once, year before last, and I hated it, cos it rained, my back did it's 1st bout of pain, it was cold, the atmosphere wasn't very friendly, I wasn't happy with my bf (now ex) and this nasty bunch of charvas stood outside my tent till 4am doing spartacus - was more upset cos my bf didn't go and sort em out, got to the point where I was gonna strangle some spotty geordie charva cos he wouldn't, also everyone seemed to think it would be great to rev fek outa their bikes until they backfired - nice!
worst thing was the horizontal fireworks which were being set off amongst the tents
anyone ever seen molten tent on someone's skin? not nice, very dangerous, the organisers didn't seem to care
so that was my 1st and last stormin
I'm not surprised it's still like that
though I expect most of my experiences were more my personal stuff than the actual rally's problem
cept for the charvas

Well, it aint what it used to be. I suppose ya gotta make the best of it when yer there. Goin with some good mates always helps! I must say though, thinkin back over this years rallies, the bike revver has been happily abscent from most of the rallies I been to, but not Stormin! What possesses anyone to screw their engine till it hits the rev limmiter is beyond me? Why they think it risable to do this in the early morning when some people have only just retired is also a sad reflection on their under developed "personality" Its not big and its not hard! Kindergarten stuff!

Stop winging, the rally was good apart fae the stranglers who where crap. friday nite was great an a party atmostphere an no trouble, the weather stayed mostly dry thou windy. Even saturday the sun was out for a while the beer prices were reasonable thou breakfasts bit overpriced at £4-50.But rest food stalls prices were the average rally price. The bogs were cleaned out regularly, friday the odd few made you want to heev, but the site was bursting at the seams an they shut the gate on sat to none tkt holders, have nt got a body count but its the biggest an busiest ahv seen it in 9 yrs. There where even more trader stalls than normal an the bike show through up some nice ideas. So roll on nxt yrs as ahl there. :p

i thought it was a great rally, allways is the bogs were allright near us and the food wasn't bad either. it was well run and well organised. only thing wrong was to many people turned up and some people on bikes had to be turned away! so next year ban cars and pedestrians then theres more room for bikes.

I had a great time, made a bit of money too :) I did enjoy myself though especially telling the cahavas to piss off out of my stall unless they wished to go missing, then at about 2 am security came looking for a missing Chav' LOL , there was a small amount of thieving going on, but that could have been the "security" themselves !!! did you see them ? anyway I enquired about this, I was informed that Stormin' used the same security firm as last year (who sent big muscle men) but this year they sent Chav' lookalikes, each had ten gold earrings in each ear and 20 wobbly clowns around thier necks :D and were all about 4ft tall with yellow hair.
Unofficially there were about 8000 there, I didn't encounter any trouble, I know one of the organisers lost her finger on the Thursday night, and heard gossip that someone also lost a finger on the Friday night on one of the buckin' bronco's.
The bikes in the show were lovely especially the Fatboy (didn't win anything but was very pretty,)
Nearly ran and hid when I saw Blue(if you need to ask you wouldn't understand) anyway all was well and NO I didn't take her picture and if I did NO I'm not sharing it with anyone :D
Was nice chatting with you Blue.
Wallace, PorridgeWog and others who came to see us was nice seeing you all again, thanks to Judes chap (im crap at remembering names) for piccies
Anyway blah blah blah, I had a good time but agree that they need to do something about the amount of chavas that were there, maybe a rule that says "No Burberry" "No white trainers" "No Nike ticks" etc etc........:D

Too big , like the other 'big doos' when yer see too many 'straights' ,and regular pond dross off the wantin to 'be wiv the bikers', then to encorege this they get shhit like the stranglers............sorry guys im off too a bike rally this time next year , NOT the fockin car and pedestrian club,
We've taken a position on this for our rally and instead of letting non bikers in on Saturday night to see the bands we've decided to close the gate.
It may seem a bit harsh but there has been several postings this year about non bikers and rally problems so we've decided to act first rather than suffer similar issues.
Bikers in cars are welcome but they will be charged 5 pounds per vehicle which will be donated straight to the animal shelter ( along with all the rest of the profit......hey mate, its for charity !)
1. I have one of em clown things (the ones where the arms wobble?) but it's silver so it don't count, plus I got it cos my great gran had one when I was a kid so it reminded me of her (see nowt's new, tis all old stuff reworked)
2. Jim we might be arriving in the car around Saturday lunchtime cos my back is playing up again (though I think it's more through the camping than the riding) so please don't lock us out
cos we have a pressie for you *fnarr*

so (biker) does such as stc prefer chavs and cage drivers to bikers.
MAG =motorccycle action group. mmmmmmmmmmmmm
I think if a rally doesn't want to let cars in then it should just say 'no cars'
no excuses etc
there are so many different types of rallies going now everyone can choose where to go
eg big festival types
small trad ones
bike only ones
have even seen 'no kids' ones
so everyone can be happy
well maybe :o
plus if I went to a rally with lotsa folk who were obviously not bikers (charvas, trendies, Ford owners - whatever) I'd probably not stay very long and would seriously think about asking for a refund, and I'd never go again and would actively discourage everyone I know from going - not good publicity.
it's a fact that bikers have a certain lifestyle and at a rally you hope for a bit of freedom to do stuff not normally acceptable down the local, so it kinda cramps yer style a bit when the charvas turn up
after all
they don't know the 'code'

I can never pre-book due to my job - I never know where I'm mean to be until Thursday afternoon. I arrived at STC about 4pm (luckily it seems) but that is still after a 3 hour ride. I've been paying my subs to MAG for 14 years and paid for Life a couple of years back. I would have gone mental if refused entrance

OK, this is my tuppeny ha'pth worth...
Never been to' Stormin... Would have like to have gone for various reasons - one being it's a MAG do and all that (OK, so I'm biased but so what?)
On't other hand, if the Farmyard can have 'no pedestrians etc.' rules, why can't Stormin'? It is supposed to be a bike rally (Even Rock and Blues seems to have gone back more that way).
The best atmosphere I've felt at a do this past couple of years hasn't been a bike rally/show/event but the Cropredy Festival (same weekend every year as the Bulldog) - everyone's welcome on't site, whether they're bikers, in a car or even come on foot (Peds have to camp round't cricket pitch with the bikers - they get kicked off first thing Sunday to make way for the Fairport v the locals cricket match). There's never any trouble and it's just so chilled out you would not believe...
As for the music - as well as Fairport Convention (whose bash it is) it could be anything from Roy Wood, Robert Plant, various members of Jethro Tull, even Lonnie Donegan before he died to new up and coming bands and all things in between. OK, there has been some shyte, that bloke from Dr. Hook last year for instance but all in all, it's a good laugh - also, the beer flows nicely (Right in the middle of Hook Norton country - need I say any more?)
I personally would love for there to be another do like Crazy Daze, that used to be on in Lydd ten years back ('94 especially!! :D ) there's never been owt like that since.
To be honest, it is up to the organisers of Stormin' to say their piece and answer any criticisms and hopefully learn for next year

If its the same weekend next year, try gettin yer arse down to the Autumn NABDness down Cornbury Park.
Great site, great peeps, great atmosphere............had a brill time down there instead of Stormin'!
ps-havent done STC for several years now for various reasons, didnt like the way it was going and for several personal reasons aswell..........didnt make a big to do about it.............if yer dont like a rally...........simply dont go back and find another one to go to the year after.
We all have various expectations from a rally,if you aint been to a certain one before, then its trial and error.........if its good and suits you then you go back,if its bad then you try a different one the year after.
If it's one you usually do,that for any reason has turned bad one particular year, then thats a different matter.
From what i can gather,it didnt help matters the way certain bands appearing advertised the weekend as a music festival ffs!!!

To be honest mate, I wish... anyway, I only managed to get to the '94 one due to my ex... (need I say any more?) - I'd just moved down south (to Ashford, down the road from Lydd) that spring and my bike (XS750) had electrickery problems, so ended up hitching a lift on the back of my mate's Harley (cool bloke, his latest won best American bike at the Pissed Indian this year). Got to the control on the way in, managed to find my ticket, gave it to the HA bloke while still on the bike - my mate set off leaving me stood on the ground, him with a severly bent numberplate (by my arse!)
What pissed me off most, when I finally moved to Lydd a few years later, I was a touch p1ssed off to find the show had gone forever! :( along with Kent Custom Bike Show (never got round to doing that one!)

2) Of course, the Man in Black was Rock'n'Roll before it realised it was. The virtues he sang about are similar to what Bikers hold dear.......You know, prison, getting drunk, fights, beer, wimmen, beer, trains, (OK bikes but you know "that lonesome whistle blew" speaks to you). I didnt make that rally so can't comment much. But I am in my early 20's and was not brought up as a biker so I find I dont Know any music at the rallys I think all rallys should cater for the young generations as they are the future of biking. Bring on modern rock like System of a down, Linkin Park, Foo Fighters and even Nirvana. Everything else on the scene is great and i'm glad I found my way into it.

Enjoy 'em boy cos they dont last for ever. I was never brought up as a biker either, but my dad had an old Douglas Dragonfly til mum made him get shot of it. The music isn't important it is the love of the bikes. fer christs sake are you all deemed to end up as belstaff wearing, fishermens sock wearing twats or do you think for yourself?
Be proud of who you are. Learn the ropes and join a club that gives to you what you give to biking. Be something.

I dont see how putting a band like the Stranglers on is going to attract ''Chav's'' there all into house rave etc, does Stormin have a rave tent?
Chav's what we call pikeys down south, but looked on the chavscum website what a laugh.
Anyway a rallys about what you make it and who you go with. But having people letting fireworks off through the tents is a bit out of order.
