Boneshaker Choppers will be having an open day/bbq/ride out in the summer
probably be on a saturday (and as I run the events listings i will organise it so it doesnt clash with anything major)
any parties here be interested Boneshakers are based in tyseley Birmingham
http://www.bikerlifestyle.co.uk/Dealers/Boneshaker/choppers.htm
any input would be greatly appreciated
the ride out would probably be from tyseley to the royal oak in Hockly Heath

but we will need to make arrangments soon so as this is a first for the company any advice would be welcome

the main question is
Does a shop open day attract the same rules as a bike show (alcohol wont be supplied, the ride out is to the pub) the BBQ is on boneshakers land as well
do the show rally rules/procedures apply in this situation?????
and would we need to contact the local plod to tell them of the ride out??????

The plod will be interested in any parking arrangements, access or activities that affect the ability of traffic to flow freely and uninterrupted along any roads in the vicinity.

Same goes for a ride out. Strictly speaking they will want details of any marshalling and routes, and may object to them on the grounds of traffic/safety/emergencey access.

Provided there is no alcoholic beverages being supplied and no "entertainment", then a license will not be required.

Provision of food from a BBQ must be done in accordance with Health and Safety regulations pertaining to the Catering Industry.
A Certificate of Inspection by the Local Environmental Health Officer for the catering "premesis" and equipment will be required, along with Food Handlers training certificates.
All the usual seperate wash up and food preperation/storage requirements must be complied with.

It's a bugger, I know, but what you cook in an old oil drum for yer mates in the back garden is completely different to "commercial supply".

Even if you give the burgers etc. away for free, you have a duty of care to ensure that no-one is poisoned or made ill. There are professional regulations for this, and if not followed lay you open to be sued without the benefit of insurance cover.

That's the idea.

Get a good food van in. Then it is all their responsibilty - including staffing, stocking etc.etc.

But ask to see their CURRENT Inspection Certificate - even take a photocopy.
Best way to keep your arse in good shape is to ensure you have it fully covered.

thanks for the advice mate
the area is an industrial area so cant see many objections from plod about parking, blocking roads, thee is plenty of space, but we will let em know and see what they say

Cheers again

Excellent.

Charge them either £50 up front or 10% of sales, whichever you can mutually agree on.

Hope it all goes well.

as its technically a Bike builders open day with food and ride out we wernt sure whether all the rally rules applied.

but it looks like its going to be organisable

I personally could not manage to put a full proper event together.
so this sounds just like our cup of tea

read the thread and links again BB.

This is an OPEN DAY for a SHOP on an Industrial estate.

NOT a rally with entertainment or the sale of alcohol.

Peeps (hopefully a fair number) will turn up, get a burger and a cup of tea, visit the shop, chat to the guys and see examples of their work.
Then they will get on their bikes and ride off together to a pub for a sherbert.

we are trying to organise it so it doesnt clash with anything major or local

but Benny and Nik are great blokes, they dont care what you ride, how it was built - he aint a money bikes bloke, no fancy machinary in the shop, just the normal household tools and hard work
Niks Bike was in last months BSH and I am doing a Bobber Build Up Feature on my site http://www.bikerlifestyle.co.uk/Bike/boneshakers/buildup.html

Cool I will keep you updated as to the dates
