Had the same op a couple of years ago. Varicose veins are a common problem in my job apparently, (Postie). I had really unsightly knotted veins on both legs. Used to ache like mad. Ended up doing my delivery then spending the rest of the day laying down recovering. Trust me, the op was nothing. An overnight stay on the ward then a week off work. Two tiny incisions on the inside of the thighs, two more at the back of the knees. No real pain. Certainly a damn sight better than the discomfort the veins were giving me. Smaller veins were dealt with by a course of injections. Again, didn't really hurt. Cleared up most of it but you'll never see me wearing shorts!
If you're in pain like I was, go for the op mate. Well worth it.
