Isn't it ironic that George Best is going to die before he gets the chance to benefit from the new 24hr drinking rules?

It just means that should he recover he will only be 24 hours away from death again

i am one of the lucky ones who have private health through work and i pay a small amount to put the girls onto it and it covers almost everything, but these poor sods that have been/being denied because they are overweight, it absoluty ludricous.....considering every working person on the cards pays for this service, surley they should have a right to sue the nhs for services not honoured for being forced into paying for a service that will not/refuses to treat them....
i wonder if john prescott or any other famous fat peaple would have this problem..........i thinks not

George Best well an' truely fucI<ed up his second chance is what a lot of folks are sayin'. Some question if he should have been given it in the first place. I have to agree with most of these sentiments but I shall remember him as a childhood hero of mine before the booze got to him.
There were other 'celebrity' sportsmen in the '70's who were terrific party animals along with George Best an' they were admired for it too at the time.... John Conteh an' James Hunt to name but two an' Barry Sheene was probably in there too. It was probably as much to do with the time they lived in an' sudden wealth an' celebrity as anything. Remember, sportsmen hadn't been paid very well before the '70's an' even then it ain't a patch on what todays sports stars earn. George Best has made the headlines more often as a drunk than not but don't forget there are plenty of others still comin' thru the footballin' ranks that are quite happy bungin' sh!tloads of coke up their nose an' booze down their throats. Some have beaten their addictions an' some won't. Unfortunatly George Best didn't.
George Best as I shall remember him

You've gotta remember he had an illness that could happen to any of us, i feel it is a sad day to lose such a legend, he has made his mistakes and so have all of us.
Good luck Bestie, hope you make it through the night. :(

I understand what your sayin and totally agree but he has made mistakes that people are not goin to be happy with (me too) but to wish someone dead is wrong especially when he has entertained so many people in his early years.
