OK, I will start with the UK
Tooty? You really do well in front of the camera, I know they had to edit alot out to make sure you gave the "right impression". Again this week, too much profiling, not enough building. I still think they could have got more of an audience if they did it like the US version 1 builder v. 1 builder and have a run off. Of course the network would have to pay for the bikes, but then they could own it, hell I dont know, but think there has to be a better way to showcase good, homegrown builders and the great work they do.
The Great biker build-off
I think Rook was robbed. If the people who voted saw the show firts and not just the end result I think it would have been a different outcome. Rook had one guy help make the frame, which he did WITHIN the allotted time, not before like everyone else, he hand crafted his, he put his own signature parts that HE designed on it, did all but the paint, and honestly its a fantastic bike, definitely out of the norm for todays chops.
Finch? He led a great team to do his work and didnt touch the bike unless it was for paint or fitting, when he broke down he couldnt even fix it. Great looking bike (not my style really) and a definite one off. Good to see Indian Larry ressurrected  .
Personally I was WELL impressed with this Rook, very young in the bussiness but definitely full of vision and ability, good old style building and engineering with alot of new innovation. He would have gotten my vote.
Saying that, he would get it NOW, after seeing the show, if I had to vote just on the outcome? Finches looked like he did tons more in the time.

Tease......it was made this way to appeal to all the people that arent bikers.God forgive em but they do exist ;)
I think they went for the soap opera format where they want people to tune in next week to see what happens next..........Dunno we are only in it, they filmed it how they wanted and edited it to be show worthy.
Although i think it works, the feedback we are getting at the shop is that it should be on for longer?
Plus i think doing it the same format as in the USA would just become boring........Dunno what do ya think? :D

Is it me, or do the yanks just build these things and then set off on the road unregisterd. The UK version would have you sat at the sva place and then arguing with dvla on the phone for hours

I'm a bit confused! I thought War Horse was the Destiny build for the show. I seem to recall at FYP, it was there as 'coming soon on the discovery channel'?

Roll on next week and I shall be able to see the show for the first time. Then I can add my considered opinion. Though anything about the UK custom scene has to be good.

I like the show, needs to be longer.
Yep agree with Tooty they have to make it to appeal to non bikers. Bloody hell even me dad likes it.
Thought the US one was good this week. And you have to doff your cap to Rooke, pretty much all his own work and finished in 9 days! Christ its taken me longer than that to find a wiring prob on me bike.
Anyone know if Exile are in the new series? bout time they won something.

I agree they have to set the scene, you have to 'get to know' the builders to get into the programme that way you'll 'take sides' and get involved etc, its good programming really...
"Make Tooty look like a tart"....
Not difficult really is it.... :D

After getting your take on it Tooty, I seem to agree. The bike scene isnt as widespread as it is over there, so I can see it appealling to those on the outside. Guess I was looking at it from too far within the box.
I love to see the BUILDING, the machining, welding, bending, painting, they all generate ideas in my own head, lord knows I would love a bike shop of my own. To me you live my dream, I couldnt be dragged from the shop :D
As to the US one? I still say Rook should have gotten the trophy, if not him, then the dozen or so guys that did all the work on Fitches :D

My take is it should have been made in the same format as the states .... the us programme i sinteresting as it shows the birth of 2 bikes per show from concept to show winning , the uk show has lost me , i havent seen much building going on attall, If this is dumming down for us brits .... i think they got the wrong end of the stick to be honest im not sure if i can be bothered to watch anymore , but the us show continues in the format thats right ill be watching that . If your in a position of reporting feedback to the show could be worth doing so in this vein of thinking.

The way it has been explained to me is that its not just a uk copy of the yankee one, its a reflection on our custom scene, the builders who take part, who they are, what they do, about their lives etc as well as the bikes and building for the comp.
It the moment they are just giving the audience the chance to 'meet' and get to know the builders a sort of setting the scene type of thing.
This whole series is more than just a 'we built this' we built that' show, its a fly on the wall type of thing too...
stop thinking and comparing it to the yank one its a completely different concept really...

But why cant we see more bike building and less chest beating........ i would rather see a builder build a bike and judge him for that than to see one riding around and posing for photographers .... Lets see em build. !!!

Here goes my 'two penneth' . . .
Firstly I'm stoked that they're doin' a Brit version! Our motorcycle heritage is every bit as rich as the Yanks. I do agree that the US format is better tho. All of our bike builders deserve as much time per program as their American counterparts, ie an hour program focusing on 2 builders at a time.
I gotta say that the US biker build off this week was for me, very disappointing . . . Rookes bike looked like a 'chavs bicycle' and the other machine looked like it'd been rejected from a Batman movie for being too gaudy! Only my opinion of course and I'm a bit biased being an old school kinda bloke.
Lastly, couldn't agree with more with Simon B. As you see from my 'user name' I'm a BIG Exile fan . . .Russ's bikes kick ass . . . and Yankie ass at that! :D

Chest beating?!!
As was explained earlier, one thing the discovery channel has done with the Biker Build Offs, OCC etc is open the custom bike scene to a more general public interest. Whether you agree with that or not is another thing. But they have been successful with what they set out to do.
