Every year, me and Mrs R have big plans to hold a party or do something exciting for New Years Eve - everyone wimps out at the last minute leaving us to get drunk on all the booze and eat all the food we get in. Last year we were 'forced' to compromise - going up to Yorkshire and stay with Mrs R's cousin and her chav mates.
This year, we want to do something different.
Are there any parties or rallies on over the New Year that wouldn't mind a couple of strays from the land of the southern shandy drinker? :D
If so, let us know ASAP. so we can save up some brass, and also give Mrs R something to look forward to while she's toiling away at Uni!

We do have friends but none of them ever do anything at new year! They say pub's too expensive or relaties are over or something - arrggghhhhhh.
We could do the pub thing but it's all so dull, would rather be camping or suchlike :)

I'm usually so boll0cksed by 10 o'clock after cooking for everyone & stuff that I miss it. :(

we have two options :
1 . Stay in ,watch crap tv , have a couple of drinks , see new year in be in bed by 12.02. OR
2 . Go out , leaving teenage kids in the house with the threat of a very slow and painful death if they have a party (which they will mre than likely ignore and we will be so p*ssed when we get back we,ll join in !!??)
hmmm which will it be ????

i can't stand new year's eve. i think i have been scarred for life by seeing it in in the mountsorrel working men's club. i endured this for years just to keep the bro and sister in law happy, fortunately we had a huge bust up a couple of years ago and we have'nt seen the fucker's since :) the prospect of spending new year's eve in a packed, hot pub full of part time drinker's does'nt appeal either so i have been looking at going away somewhere but most likely it will be yvonne and myself listening to some cd's and watching something like the review of the year to remind ourselves who's pegged it and jool's holland's hootenanny while our daughter jess see's it in at aston uni with her mate's. exciting or what? :)

ok for you lot....everything mentioned so far sounds good as I'll be working..:(
I take the crimbo hols off as me kids are still young, but always end up working the new year shunting the pissheads from pub to pub/party to party etc......still, I get to rip the arse out of them fare wise with the enhanced fare structure......:)

As it's on a weekend and hopefully Mrs. Robin will not be working on the first I intend going up to Allendale for the Tar Barrells.

I thought they'd stopped that Robin - a good pagan event but not so good if you want a drink......... :D

I hope they haven't, I havent been for about 15 years, and always wanted to go back.
I know what you mean about the drink though, a hip flask would be the best way. I'd probably be driving anyway, so it would be a sober one for me. Still got to be better than the usual sitting in the house watching cr4p on the telly.

Mad Dog playing the traf in Douglas, £5 a ticket, got a spare bed if anyone interested :D
Last new years was kinda quiet for us, we took it off as we were knackered, this year we thought hey why not try a party, advertised it, and filled up on the first ads for it, could have filled up 5/6 times over by now, popular time of year for people wanting to get away, so we'll be partying down the local rock club, ( Who have a do on ) then into the small hours of the morning back here.
Should be a laugh. :D

Where I live is a cul de sac of 15 houses, and when my kids were young, most of the houses were occupied by other folk with kids as well, and we all used to get together, often in my house as mine were the older kids and tended to be babysitting for those with the youngest ones - the rest used to pop back every so often just to make sure theirs were ok - I spose this would be a terrible thing to do now!
Anyway we used to have a great party, everyone brought some booze and some food so it wasnt as if one person had to organise and worry about it, was really great, used to go till the early hours and the neighbours didn't complain cos they were all there! And the best was, you didn't have far to walk home!
Never found a better way to celebrate, will prolly stay home as usual, even tho I'm not working.
