Hey folks....
Right now I ride an old Harley flathead chop.... but I am hankering after a trike..... so I can get 'her indoors' out on it as well...(she does'nt like bikes too much) Whats best, buy a trike, or buy a bike and build one... Assuming I buy a bike and convert it, which bike? shaft or chain drive for example?
Hmmm lots of scope there then? :D
questions...always questions eh?
Thanks folks...

the xs11 is still sitting here.
if you have most of the skills needed to build your own its usually cheaper, mates with the skills you don't have does help a lot.
i've worked on £2000.00 trikes that have both been well thought out and built.
i've worked on £4000.00 trikes that are rolling death traps.
i only build vw powered ones as they are relativly easy to turn out and as i make my living from it it suits me.

Yep! Trikes aren`t everybodies cup o bovril! Ave ya ever rode one? They take some gettin used to an dont handle at all like a bike! Some are compleat death traps too! Ya gotta be careful! I seen one Roll once comin back from Scarbourah (spellin! :( ) on way back to the Farmyard when it was at the Farmyard and it wernt a pretty site! :( (The crash, not the Farmyard!) Wish it was still there! Top rally! Who remembers the vally when ya used to have to wobble down that path in the dark stepping over the odd unfortunate who couldnt quite make it! Ahhhh! happy daze!

Where are you Bassman?
I had my GT550 converted by a local bloke. He will convert your own or supply the bike as well, he only does bike trikes. But he does it all by the rules, so it's strictly legal - which is more than you can say for some of the trikes for sale as 'unfinished project' or 'needs a little work for MOT' !

Hey folks...
I have no intention of selling the flathead chop!!!
It took me ages to get it, and then change it to the way it is today, so it's not going to be sold.
I have always fancied a trike, and i am sure they can't be any more awkward to ride than a sidecar outfit!! can they? I rode an old wing 1000 outfit for many years... (they used to call us George and Mildred!).. bloody cheek....
Eileen liked riding on the back of it, but when we used to travel fron North to West Wales, when we got to the mountains in between , she used to moan like hell at being asked to get in the sidecar....(well a fat arse helps keep the thing down eh!! gotta be useful for summat ;) )
I am in Doncaster, so i dont know how far away i am from you ,Trikergran.
Also not sure about either car or bike trikes !! not sure about very much at all really... :o
been thinking of maybe buying something like an old wing and converting that? Does that make sense?.. or ar car trikes the way to go!!
Thanks for the help folks,
Bassman...
