Didn't know what to use as a title really.

But help needed anyway.

A friend of mine has a Wing but due to illness is unable to ride it. There is a bolt on attachment available from the US called the 'Voyager' which turns it into what looks like a trike. It has 2 15" wheels and just bolts on and off as required. The rear wheel stays in place and remains as the only drive wheel.

This is a much cheaper option than going for a full on trike conversion. But with it now having 4 wheels it can't be a trike. Can it?

Does anyone know for sure how this vehicle would be classified?

I think it still remains a solo motorcycle because it is a bolt on accessory the same as a side car.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to find out a definitive answer.

Many thanks.

this site is brilliant for trike stuff...might have your answer there, if not email the guy whose site it is as he's very helpful

Why not just have the 'Wing triked?

Thanks for that, very interesting.

I'm also looking into the quadricycle class of vehicle.

Why not just have the 'Wing triked?

That would be the ideal solution but cost is a big consideration and these Voyager kits come up second hand pretty cheap.

Well I had a Goldwing moment this weekend!!! I always thought Goldwings were pseudo cars ridden by Barry Manilow stalkers....until this weekend that is. A friend of ours...proper biker like with tattoed head challenged me to go out on the back of his Goldwing at the Pissed Indian, so I did and he had Rush on the bikes CD and it was the bollox!!!!
BigBod get the metallica out I will pester you mercilessly for a ride on your Goldwing at the forum party :D

spoke to a guy a few years back that had a 5 wheeled trike and it was taxed and classified as a car. Since the abolition of the B1 class, most trikes are light cars and need a car licence anyway (except for the disabled, I believe).
