anyone?

Mine makes horrible noises at the moment... Tried a few breakers and noone seems to have broken a 1500...

unsure if the alternator runs bushes or bearings if bearings you might be able to replace them.

otherwise email this guy he's a gw expert

replacing the bearing isnt really a problem - its a standrad 6000 series bearing - the brushes are more of a problem - noone lists a LR140-708 alternator (made by hitachi) - getting them out is a different matter altogether..

it still works - but the back bearing has spun in the housing, knackering it, and is a mission to replace...

ho hum.

Alternators appear on ebay every now-and-again but they don't come cheap as it's a common fault :(

just to let you know Keith and I re-built it for 35 quid + new bearing (new back housing, new brushes, fully checked and cleaned)

had to bodge one of the main 'holditalltogether' screws as the bu66er sheared off when trying to undo it...

Nitro - where are you based? I'd like someone who rides one 'enthusiastically' to have a blat on mine and tell me if mines ok or not - it don't feel right to me...
