We're having cctv camera's putting up soon, one on the front and one on the back. Now, does anyone know where they can and can't be pointed ?

johnny is correct on the placement.
we have them out and inside our one house, due to residents bringing in people who we have previously banned.

and if you use the smaller cameras you can off set the cost of them by doing a spot of gynacology/proctology.

we got our set up from screwfix 3 cameras and a 9" b&w monitor and a video hook up lead

why not go the whole hog and set up a couple of machine gun towers? maybe some punji sticks set into the ground ,a giant swinging axe thing (with poison on its blade) you could even dig a moat and fill it with piranhas. ps you may require planning permission for a moat. hope this has been of some help.:D :D

You may require the services of Mrs R & Mitch security services, if we sit on anyone they will die and we're black belt adepts at sarcasm too :D
Why do you need CCTV TG?

Basically to detere thieves, our garage was burgaled not so long ago , just had a quote of £80 to fit them and hide wires under the floor boards - good quote ?

£80 is pretty good for peace of mind.As I said before, security lights are a good option too.The potential miscreant won't know if he's set off the light or if you've heard him and switched it on yourself. He's most likely to sod off and do somewhere that doesn't have lights.Scares the hell outa the local cats tho'! :D

I had a security light at the back of the house - I think one of the neighbours chopped the cable... it was a bit sensetive and BRIGHT....

Our neighbours couldn't do that without getting over an 8ft fence first and 5/6ft of ground to cross before they'd get to it and then you'd have the height (whatever that would be) but by then, they would probably have a dog attached to each arm , mwahahahhaaaa :D

we got the alarm for the garage straight away after the buglar had got what he wanted, then we bought the camera's but hadn't got round to putting them up till now. Might think of having one of those for the house until a time we can afford to have the propa one :) cheers Gypsy

How about some razor wire around the perimeter that would be fun and then a second barrier of 10,000volt electric fences, can I come and watch the first burglar who tries to enter? :)

if you do put the cameras up tg, try to put them low down, pointing up cos most scrotes wear baseball caps or hooded tops so high mounted cctv cant identify them.

I hate those stupid feckin' caps, I always want to flip them off their heads as they walk past!!!! You might as well have,"I have a tiny penis and malformed genitals" tatoed on your forehead as wear one of those!

Of course you could always employ the use of Ewokandtuck Security Services. You can be rest assured that all your worldly goods and CASH once handed over will be good hands.

Once you have done this you will be completely secure in the knowledge that you and your property will be absolutely safe!

How come? You may ask!

Well, as you will now be destitute, and homeless, through handing over all your worldly possessions, you will not now need cameras, as cctv is provided FOC by your local council to protect your well being no matter which doorway you wish to sleep in!

Nah, best anti-burglar device I've seen was the one in that Clint Eastwood Spaghetti Western 'A Fist Full of Dollars', where he set up this shotgun on a chair facing his hotel room (OK Flea ridden shytehole that passed for hotels in those days) door, so when the door was opened, a bit of string attached to the door handle (obviously wrapped round the chair) pulled the trigger!

It does work as well - me old man showed me how it was done when I were a nipper (obviously with a toy shotgun! :D)

Triker Gal, sadly I think the person that said you have to have a warning notice put up is actually correct!! Recently a mate of Rik's who owns a Gym next to a car park called the plod to tell them that some little scrotes were breaking into a car in the car park, they arrived too late but Riks mate said 'thats okay I have them on my CCTV film" coppers replied,"do you have a notice up warning folk that they are being filmed by CCTV"
Mate says no, thats the whole point isnt it.... to catch them at it without them knowing!! Copper says sorry we cannot use the film without a notice... it infringes their human rights!
You are not allowed to use the film for police/court /legal reasons EVEN IF THEY ARE BREAKING THE LAW, without that warning notice.
bloody madness...

I have the horrible need to say this, sorry...

Be careful with this. My mate placed his above the door to his garage but forgot about it one day... spent 2 days shouting at everyone cos he nearly blew his eardrums  Even though he's a good mate, I still nearly pissed myself :D :D
